Who's going? This is going to be my first year. I did Brew at the Zoo last year and I'm hoping that Zapps is better organized.

It is definitely better organized than the Brew at the Zoo I went to two years ago. Only problem I've experience with Zapps is that it has rained (or recently rained, so is a slosh pit) every time I've been.

It is a really good time with a lot of good home brews. Very easy to end up hammered before you know it. Lots of people out there (and it seems to be growing every year), but I don't find it too difficult to get beer.

I'd be out there again this year if it didn't conflict with Hogs.

Pretty much what you said. If it rains, be prepared to get dirty. The wait to get your favorite beer might take some time at first but people will quickly spread out.

Been the last 4 years. I think I'm going to pass this year.

I'll be there pouring homebrew. It's always a blast, but it helps that we get in early as "volunteers."

2.5 or 3, I believe. You'll be hard pressed to find a beer festival that lasts longer, according to the threads here in the past. There's only so long you can give out "free" unlimited alcohol to people before it takes a nosedive. Especially when the event is being held at a local museum without security (that I've noticed, at least).

Yep, Brew at the Zoo is an hour too long at 4 hours. People start getting shitty.

It does say 0%....but it's supposed to storm Wed and Thursday I believe. Sounds like it could get messy.

Yep. They'll throw some pinestraw out to cover the mud, but with that many people, it'll be messy. Wear shoes you don't mind getting muddy.

Pro tip: stick by the homebrew tents. That's where the good stuff is.

It's fun. Trying to decide between this and HFTC.

Will be there! It's a fun time even if you get all muddy due to rain.

I know; I hate that they conflict. I love Zapps, but Hogs was just way too much fun to skip.

Same, but I think I've only missed on Zapp's since it started, and it's our brewclub's biggest event, so it wins out.

The forecast is looking nice for Saturday, high of 71 degrees and sunny, however it will probably still be very muddy.

I haven't been in a year or two, but have they fixed the bathroom situation? I remember the lines for the portable toilets were really long.
A good friend is throwing a crawfish boil, so we're going to that instead. Maybe next year. It is a good time.

NOLA on Tap

Yeah, but Nola on Tap is a drink per ticket festival, not an AYCD deal. At Nola on tap you grab some beers and hang out in the shade or watch some music. At AYCD festivals, it's go time from the moment you walk through the door.
