Honestly this still seems more likely. It’s a great answer to work around it though without ever having to bring it up.

They were named the official restaurant of Southeastern Louisiana University Athletics around the same time of the name change. I suspect that had at least something to do with it.

I suspect there was some potential for trademark litigation that wasn't worth it. A quick search (because I was curious) of the US Trademark records showed they tried to register a trademark for "Your Mom's" back in 2013. It was denied because it was similar to a "Your Mom's" burger restaurant trademark that was already register to a restaurant in Austin.
Some restaurant/business somewhere probably raised a stink about the name and rather than go through the fight again, they just changed the name.

As long as they have that fried chicken sandwich with the peppper jelly and cream cheese on jalapeño sour dough lthey can be called Hitler’s Mom for all I care.
