Also, is cooking time the same for two sacks as it is for one sack? Bring to boil and boil 1-3 minutes?

Thinking about one soon as well. Debating between the single and double sack.

Grew up boiling in traditional pots. One sack +- at a time. Single sack pot will be easier to move around site to site. Still a pain in the arse I'm sure

Double is nice if you want to do 2 sacks at a time. 200 bucks more for a bulkier device.

What happens if the burner goes out?

Lots of money either way

Picked up the single sack boiler by outdoor gourmet. It seems bigger than the king Kooker single sack

Reasons

My dad is due for a new boil rig. His basket is all busted up and can't find one to replace his. Pot and basket is from the 70s. Narrow pot.
He likes this style and thinks it will be easier to handle once he gets cookin. He is 70

The single sack is 200 bucks less at 399

It's bulky and will be a pain in the arse to take places in the back of a truck, but it may be easier than the two sack boiler

We have always boiled one sack at a time. Second batch is always better. No need to boil all at once. There are times we do 4 sacks but that's when we will just break out extra pots

Two sack boiler for the price just seems like over kill.

The burner underneath looks like it can be replaced fairly easy. I'm sure they will sell those before long. I hope

Here's the deal. As others have said. It doesn't have shite to do with how many sacks are in the pot. It has to do with how much water. The water will be seasoned. The crawfish will soak up the seasoned water. Not the seasoning. This goes to adding seasoning to the next batch without adding more water as well. It's not going to be the same product. It will be more seasoned. Unless you think the crawfish take the seasoning out of the water. It just doesn't happen that way.

So, if you have a smaller pot you usually use, fill it with the normal amount of water, and add the seasonings you normally would. Pour it in the larger pot. Repeat the process.

i do it a little different.i put my cajunland and another top secret ingredient seasoning in until i get a message from the crawfish gods that it is enough.
i then after they cook and cool a bit i add 1 capfull of natural lemon oil.
no lemons floating in this boil.

Did anybody ever give a solid reply on how much seasoning for 2 sacks at once?

The amount of pounds of crawfish means nothing. It’s about the amount of water that matters

It would take minimum 80quarts of water to boil two sacks and fixins

Assuming he uses 80qts of water, I would use 2 bags of Louisiana powder and 2 bags of chackbay

Yeah we do 2 sacks in a 160 qt filled halfway and double the normal spices.

I see I already mentioned the pot 2 years ago.

With my 2 sack pot I use the same amount of water for 1, 1.5 or 2 sacks so the seasoning is all the same no matter how much crawfish I have.

So you're saying you use 40 qts of water for 2 sacks?

Or you use a larger amount of water for just 1 sack?

A larger amount for 1 sack. It took me several 2 sack boils to get the amount of water right. I marked it and now fill to that line now matter how much I am boiling.

160 filled halfway is perfect for me. With everything in for the soak, the water is just high enough to stir without spilling.

I assume your 1 sack boils are mighty tasty if you use the same amount of seasoning.

Something to consider: when to change the water .... if I'm cooking 2 or more sacks of crawfish, I boil one sack (~33 lbs) at a time using a 120 qt pot. After the 2nd sack or batch is done soaking, I empty the dirty water, rinse out pot, and start with fresh water and new seasoning.

No matter how long you purge the crawfish in clean running water, boiling them still produces dirty water from excrement and debris.

OP, if you plan on boiling 2 additional sacks in the same seasoned water, the 2nd batch is gonna have very dirty water! Your pot of water will basically have boiled 4 sacks.

You have double the water so it comes out just the same.

40qts to 1 sack vs 80qts to 2 sacks. The ratio is exactly the same. The water will be equally as clean/dirty in both scenarios.
