Cartwright Eustis. What a great name for a human mascot.

Here's an article on him.

Guy on the right. I've had a few rounds with him. He was very friendly. He also enjoyed the girls I'd bring over after bowing. The sweet old man gig worked for him.

He destroyed the ALS challenge.

I love this place, and always suggest it to out of town guests. It doesn't seem to get much love on this site...but I think that's more a case of people jumping on the bandwagon, vs reporting on actual experiences.

Hopefully, now that you've given such a great review, folks will give it a try.

P.S. You get $5 off of your admission to Rock and Bowl with the purchase of an entree from YOCI.

What I saw of the bar looked inviting. I could see spending an afternoon/evening watching sports at the bar and eating on and off. That was the first thing I thought when I looked at it on the way in.
You're exactly right. A couple years ago, I was supposed to meet my husband there but he was running late so I just took a seat at the bar. Had the BEST time chatting with Cartwright and his buddies.

The food may not be super modern but it is delicious and you can't beat the way they make you feel like family. Some other places in town could take lessons from how they do their service.

Exactly, the food at the old one wasn't even that good but it was homey as well. At least the new one has really good food now!

Johnny is very Catholic and very generous. He once sent over a bunch of free food to a group of kids that were in town supporting the pro-life cause.

My dad sure had fond memories of College Inn. He played football for Tulane in the early 40s and he said that on Saturdays, at some point in the evening, they would clear the tables out so people could dance. I haven't been there since the storm, but a buddy of mine said he spotted my dad in an old Tulane team photo that still hangs on the wall.

Yeah. They must have had a nice little party scene going on back then at that place.

Negative. They are great onion rings, though.

I think the menu is a good mix. They had duck, lamb, their own pastured beef, plus old faves and poboys. It's sort of a local sports bar/restaurant joint and I like that a lot. I want to go back and hang out with a group of friends. What a fun day of de-stressing that would be. If I lived near it, I'd probably be somewhat of a regular. Maybe I would be somewhat of a mascot character.

YOCI was the home of the "Lone Eagle Sandwich", named for Charles Lindbergh.

Gris Gris I owe you one. Went last night and got the oysters bleu which were fantastic. I added the bacon too. Enjoyed it with a fried tomato shrimp remoulade poboy and some of the best grits ever made.
