yeah you're right, it's not that good.
But for a place to grab a plate lunch, poyboy, a burger or some crawfish and beer or two?
You sammy's haters are some miserable fricking people.
as a neighborhood restaurant to grab a quick sandwich...yes, it serves its purpose.
As a place that usually commands a 45 minute wait or longer based on what i have visually seen and experienced in the past, it's not THAT good. I could go to Brewbachers, PoBoy Express, any number of the burger places, Chimes, Rocco's, Dempseys, etc for "bar and grill food".
I'm saying the fact that people would be willing to wait that long for a table there shows me how seemingly mindless the diners are. I'm not saying everyone that is posting here is dumb. All im saying is that the love the place gets is really unfounded as the food is very mediocre on the many accounts I and other have been there.

I'm a Baton Rouge dude that doesn't like Sammy's. The food is ok, but it's nothing special.
The wife and I went in there one night when neither of us were very hungry but we didn't want to cook. We decided we would share an app and a full poboy. They wanted to charge us extra to share a sandwich...at fricking Sammy's. Haven't been back since.

well Walk On's charges for ice now. I bet they become the first place to charge for water in BR.
Too many people splitting shite these days I guess. Can't have that affecting the bottom dollar!

Some places do that because they give each plate a full side order. Mason's is a place I can think of off the top of my head. I don't mind it as long as I get extra food.

I do exactly what you just said and have since Highland road opened and NEVER has it been a problem. It's a sandwich joint that does what it does well. Period. Waitresses are quick, kitchen is quick and all is consistent. What the frick
else you want for a casual bite to eat? And as I said I've been going since it opened and I've never waited more than 15 minutes and I'm not such a douchebag I can't give any place 15 minutes. I'm not Obama.

They may have re-changed it then
It's a stupid policy if you're not getting anything extra. At Mason's, for example, each plate gets a full serving of the side if you ask them to split it. I understand the charge there. ive been to that sammys probably 40 times or so and have never had a rude waitress.
