It's very common in almost every other state I've visited. You would figure with it being the oldest domestic brewery, very popular in many parts of the country, and as much as we like to drink in south Louisiana it would make its way down here.

I've always heard that they don't have the supply/size to expand more.

There are a thousand rumors. My favorite is that Abita and the local breweries are the ones fighting it from becoming available in Louisiana.

I don't get the love for Yuengling. Might as well drink Bud Light.

I'm not a fan, but I had some the other night. Didn't taste like Bud Light. More calories. Higher ABV. Higher IBU.

Why would you want Yuengling in south Louisiana? You're not missing anything.

This isn't a shot at you specifically, so don't get your panties in a wad, but about three or four years ago, before the "beer guys" really started overwhelming this board, Yeungling was a very respected and well-liked beer--even among the "beer guys". Now it might as well be piss water.

Things that make you go hmmmmmm.

No worries Lucky. I am no beer snob, I will down a cold Bud Light or Heinekin in a minute, after cutting the grass, out on the water or golf course, but prefer a Tito's on ice with a lemon wedge everytime. Just sharing my opinion.

It doesn't suck and it's the right price but it isn't worth the hype. People love it cause they can't get it

Also 3 or 4 years ago the best out of state brewery was Saint Arnold's. A lot has changed in those few years

This is pretty much the best description. It's a notch above BL/ML and is still cheap as shite. It won't win any maven awards but it's good for the price.

It was never a "good" beer. It's just good for what it is. It's no more expensive than your other macrobrews and it tastes a little (not significantly) better. I'm not bringing it home when I travel and I'm not looking for it when I travel, but if it's on tap and there are no better choices I'll go for it.

That being said, I drank a ton of it when I was a broke grad student.

What bothers me is that Sam Adams is bigger (or about the same size), and hence they are a macro as well.

Yet, they produce some decent beers. I guess a bit higher priced though.

I guess it is just the model and largely influenced by the fact that Yuengling has been doing the exact same thing for 100 years longer than SA.

My post is rambling. Just thinking out loud a bit.

Craft before craft was cool. Been at it long enough to grow to the size that they are. I'm sure many breweries would love to have that sustained success and be able to grow to that size.

Sam Adams is only considered micro because every year they petition the craft brewers alliance to change the definition of the word "micro" or "craft".

They are very much macro. Maybe not near the size of ab- InBev but they definitely aren't on par of what everyone considers craft.
