Why don't they make larger batches? Seems like they stand to make some money of this delicious juice. Any reason they don't sell it year round?

I'd rather it be a special release. If it's year round, then there is nothing to get excited about. It would be great if their releases were a bit larger, so everyone could try it, but that all has to do with production capacity and like boo said, hops availability. If you haven't seen the news, there is a drought in California and in parts of Oregon, which is one of the main hop growing regions in the country.

This makes no sense to me. It's a really good beer, why would you not want to be able to go to the store on any random day and pick a few up?

I would imagine money plays a part in the production. It wouldn't be hard to imagine there is less profit making Ghost than his other products.
Also, he may be hitting a limit on production capacity with demand of Canebrake, Envie, and South Coast.
All of this is speculation though.

Just something about getting a hard to find beer, i guess. It's like if Louisiana had Russian River, Bell's, 3 Floyd's, and the Alchemist all in Louisiana. It would be awesome if that happened, but would sort of leave the fun out of going out of state and trying fantastic beers there, at least for me.
Personally, and i'm sure i'll get some flak over it, but i don't think i'd want to drink Ghost everyday. It's a world class DIPA, for sure, but that level of hops in a beer would give me some serious palate fatigue after a while.
For an everyday sort of beer, i prefer something like commotion from Great Raft.

Well there is a hops shortage this year. Not sure how that will affect some breweries or not, depending on their contracts and their brew capacity.
Also, with Parish, majority of their fermenters are stocked with Canebrake i believe. It's their money maker. I don't think the ROI on Ghost is all that great. Yeah it sells out within hours of release, but brewing a beer like that is also expensive.
Personally, i'm just happy we get to experience this beer a few times a year.

Sounds like someone there needs to take a basic course in economics. Supply doesn't change, but demand is through the roof = price rise.
They could make more money, and they will still sell out. Sure some people will stop buying, but they would quickly be bought by the other hundreds of people that want to buy the beer but never get a chance. I'd each bottle was $1 more expensive, they would still sell out easily. Maybe it would just take a week rather than 5 hours. If demand ever starts to slide, just lower the price back down. It's good shite, people will buy it

I've seen Farmhouse IPA on the Rouse's shelf for the past few months. I don't think they've been restocked either.

I understand basic economics, jackass. I'm saying that the hops they are getting are finite, under the contract, and that beer is more expensive to produce on the ingredient side, and production side than majority of their beers. Also, majority of their brewery capacity is reserved for their flagship, canebrake. So they can't brew this 1 beer non stop without expanding significantly.
Yes, they could raise the price of the beer and people would still buy it. But it's also a good way to alienate their consumer base.
