The new restaurant will take the place of the former Voodoo BBQ & Grill off Range 12 Boulevard near Bass Pro Shops. The BRQ team is planning a complete renovation, with seating for some 130 patrons and a full bar, Ferguson says. Construction will begin in a few weeks, and the opening is set for September.

Do they use the LCI students as "unpaid" labor?

Seriously, just asking..

I don't know.

BRQ is shite and obviously sells like crazy, so not sure why anyone would say that.

Ferguson says he hopes to provide his BRQ staff with more opportunities to grow in the restaurant business and bring something special to his hometown with the second location.
The Denham Springs area is growing and a new local establishment will be good for the community, he adds.

Except for Don's Seafood is the grandaddy of the area and there's an hour wait at Duke's Seafood every night of the week, so if they don't bring their A game, they won't last 8 months.

Just sayin'

They’re doing something right over there. The parking lot is never not full.

BR is so desperate for a good BBQ place. People here want it to be good, but it's not.

Been to the one in BR twice. That's two too many times.

Anyone know about the non BBQ there? I've only been once and only ordered an app and side dish, but their seafood/specials on social media look good. I know most here have said the BBQ wasn't good, but wonder about the other stuff.

If one wants good BBQ in or around BR then you will need to either visit Wayne's in Livingston or Couyons in Port Allen.

They’ll continue to go to Sonnys BBQ instead

I'm about as unbiased as anyone can get when it comes to local BBQ just because there is zero selection. Wayne's and Cou-yon's are the best spots I've found and I've been to all the spots.

Exactly. I wanted, desperately so, for BRQ to be good. I gave it more than one chance and even lied to myself a bit the first couple of times but at the end of the day it’s just bad.

I’d hit Sonny’a In a pinch but I’d get the chicken. It’s not bad. At least the ones I’ve been to here.

Sonny's has some very solid brisket sandwiches.

Much better than the BBQ, at least based on other people I was with both times that I got BBQ and was let down.
