There is some new cheesesteak place on S Acadian called Great Steaks or something like that. Right at Broussard. Might be a chain but I'll try it next week and report back.
Went in there last week and either they hadn’t opened yet or already closed.
That gas station has a surprisingly good beer and bourbon selection

Don’t get me started about the Acadian gas station. I pass by that place to and from work. That place was supposed to have cheesesteaks and smoothies. They haven’t opened either. Plus the gas prices are crazy high — like La Rouge Market high.

I pass by it a lot these days but I've never stopped there. Guess I won't bother now.

Firehouse has a good cheesesteak.

It is good...but I would not classify it as a "Philly" cheese steak.

Finally tried Wings n sides. Their cheesesteak was really solid. I absolutely love their bread. I will surely be back.

I have to try that place in New Orleans mentioned in the other thread

It’s only open at lunch time from like 11-2. It’s in the food court of a high rise office building. That chicken Philly haunts my dreams. I worked for a company in that building for a few months and struggled to not eat it more than once a week.
The old black guy who works that griddle is a skilled artisan, a master of his craft. It is an honor to watch him work.

South of Philly was the best! I used to go weekly, I haven’t found a good one since they closed. Philly Me Up is just okay in my opinion, I’ve been a few times hoping it would impress me but meh. I heard the one on Acadian next to the gas station is good but I’ve tried to go twice at lunch and they were closed.

It's really easy to make these yourself.
For my local people...
Here in Greensboro, NC, the best philly cheesesteak is Monks out by East Cone and Hwy 29 in a strip mall.
If you live here and crave a cheesesteak, give them a try. Very good.
Address:
2101 Pyramids Village Boulevard #100 Greensboro, NC 27405

Place is awesome. I get a 4 piece chicken tender combo for my 10 and 12 year old boys to split and they usually don't finish it. Tenders are huge and really good. I got the cheesesteak one night and really enjoyed it. I hope they can keep the Essen location open. Owner told me they were struggling a few months back.

The comments about the cheesesteak made me go today for lunch. Not horrible but left disappointed. Tasted like I was eating a gyro cheesesteak.

Sorry to steer you wrong. You went to the one on Essen? If so were there any customers?

The seasoning he uses on the that and his hamburgers taste weird. The hamburger tastes like it has taco seasoning on it. The wings are pretty solid.
