In the last 15 months I've lost about 95 pounds. Most of this was lost before I went on Ozempic, about 2 1/2 months ago. I had been hospitalized last year for a month so that helped with weight loss.

Now that I'm on Ozempic, I find I get frequent waves of nausea and a dry mouth. It also has affected my cooking. If I'm trying to think of a meal to cook, nothing seems good.

Ozempic seems to work miracles. I just wish I had it when I was young - it would have changed my life.

Just wondering about your experience if you're willing to share.

My neighbor is on it and said the same thing about the nausea and dry mouth.

The semi glutides definitely regress your appetite and start to make things you used to like less desirable. He didn’t mention much about this but I did read a bit about it. The shots basically make you eat next to
Nothing so your body lives off stored fats.

One draw back I read is that once you’re off the shots, a lot of people put the weight back on. The shots help you lose the weight but you can’t go back to your old diet and eating habits.

One thing my Dr said is that when you lose weight on Ozempic, you lose body fat, not protein. I never heard of a weight loss that would do this, unless it's a slow weight loss.

She also said they were cracking down on "spas" giving the shots. There aren't enough doses for people with diabetes and other dangerous conditions.

I was put on it for Type II diabetes and I hated it. Yes, I lost a few pounds, it lowered my A1C and it curbed my appetite quite a bit. But I also had horrible diarrhea, would skip at least one meal a week because of nausea and the first thing I did when I got out of bed every morning was uncork a huge sour belch. After a few months, I went back to Trulicity.

The triggering event was when I told my wife "I'll take my Ozempic Monday instead of Sunday so I can enjoy the food I'm cooking for the LSU-Florida State game." She rightfully told me I was being a dumb-arse.

If it works for you, that's GREAT. But buyer beware.

Is Ozempic ok for someone looking to lose 25-30 lbs? I just started a weight loss journey; 10k steps a day, trying to eat better but food is my vice.

That ain’t exactly correct. Look at the studies. You essentially lose a lot of body mass which is great for most but you end up losing a lot of muscle which in my opinion will cause you issues down the line. I’m hoping the people have a lifestyle change and don’t just eat less of shitty food.

i have no issues, and im on a very strong dose once a week injections, no dry mouth or nasea or weight loss at all.

more than likely your weight loss was from the diabetes, it will all come back to where you were before you started losing weight now that you will have your blood sugar under control.

the dry mouth and nausea is likely from another drug, or the combination with another drug, not the ozempic itself

I've considered it, but I'd prefer to do trt.

I've essentially stalled out after losing 75lbs. My diet is clean. Cleaner than when I was 40lbs lighter.

Improving body composition seems the better route at this point.

no, you want farxiga or something like it that blocks your body from storing fat

i took that for a long time for diabetes and it helps keep your weight down a lot but at first you get diarrhea often because the fat you eat doesnt get stored and it goes right through you

Seems like the perfect storm for major problems down the road.

I have been on Ozempic for a month and it hasn’t done anything for me. No side effects or help

I could be wrong but modern medicine just helps speed things along for those who need it. But I agree with losing muscle mass. some type of weight lifting, even light should help.

Some of y’all really need to visit the H&F board. Some of what y’all say is nuts. Especially one persons Dr that should positively be concerned about their knowledge before putting medicine to their patients.

Get a new doctor. Almost all studies show that people are losing a disproportionally high amount of lean body mass compared to fat.

Takes about a month to start working.
I have lost 24 pounds in three months.

On to the food question……
I do find I no longer enjoy certain foods that I did before. Energy drinks leave a weird taste in my mouth for some reason.
I like salad now. I never would have ate a salad before. Weird.

When you get to 2.4mg, don't do what I did and miss a week (vacation) and then try to continue. I was the sickest I've ever been in my life for 2 days. Felt like death...

LBM is water, tissue, muscle, and bone. They can't tell what was lost so they lump it in LBM. Fat cells have water in them so a portion of the weight will be LBM just from the fat coming off. Muscle will be lost if protein is not high enough and not adding weight training in. Most likely what is happening is that the patients are not weight training as a habit prior to the study and losing muscle, water, and fat.
