I make mine without the ranch seasoning, which I find makes it too salty. I also add a shite ton of minced garlic. Turns out great.

When I went to buy ingredients I couldn't find the peppers or the au jus. So I just bought a brown gravy packet mix and a stick of butter and called it a day.
And I've made it that way ever since. It's so good that I never have thought to try it the other way.

I made one recently. Came out great. I only used 1/2 of the butter, ranch mix, au jus that was called for. I didn't add and salt either. Served it on French bread.

4 lbs chuck roast
1 (1 ounce) envelope ranch dressing mix
1 (1 1/4 ounce) envelope au jus mix
1/2 cup butter
4 -5 pepperoncini peppers
fresh ground pepper, to taste

It really us amazing, I promise. Only thing different is use the entire jar of peppers, without the juice and I do not add any pepper. It will be hot enough with those peppers. It really is good and very easy to make. Like someone said either eat it over jasmine rice or pistoletes.

Oh come on. As if Louisiana doesn't have some of the fattiest (and amazing) cooking in the world.

I've never had it, but a friend of mine has made it or something similar with the ranch dressing mix and likes it.

I like my own roast, but if I'm going for the Italian roast for subs, I loosely follow Pioneer Woman's drip roast recipe which is a winner. I use the one without tomatoes, but I add onions. Great thing to make for a game day meal.
