Yeah, no doubt racism and not the dozen or so examples of Food Network chefs and producers stealing ideas and recipes since the inception of the networks.

Your reaction solidifies your troll status though.

I think you are way off base here chief. It's been widely known the other guy wanted to do a BBQ and Tailgate show. I dont and didn't watch any of it but I've heard that for a year.

And get your foot off my boat.

Eddie certainly has the personality to pull off a good show. I'm so confused by the nature of his show, though, since I thought he was all about the health food deal. This is 360 degrees off that POV. The description sounds just like Jay's POV. I think FN must have decided Eddie's POV wasn't going to work, so they changed it. Sucks for Jay, though.

Eddie can certainly do healthy BBQ. It's a new spin on an American Classic. The timing is perfect too with the football season in full swing. Could see Eddie doing some tie ins with NFL countdown shows. Real great opportunity.

I think Eddie was as surprised as we were when he walked in to shoot his pilot and it was called BBQ Blitz. That was the first time all season that I recall any mention of him cooking or even eating BBQ.

Right. FN picked the pilots, the contestants had no say.

You didn't know? Jay Ducote invented tailgating. Eddie is a no good copy cat.

But seriously, good luck to Eddie and I look forward to his show and some down home H-Town cookin!

Yeah, like I'm really going to believe Eddie has no say in his own show. He is working very closely with Food Network to make a hit TV show. It's a fresh concept for Food Network. bbq is in right now (BBQ Pitmasters, The show about The Shed). Eddie will be just fine

I don't see where I said I thought he had no say in his show now.

I agreed with someone that he was probably shocked at the pilot that food network gave him in the finale, that turned into his show. Because that choice had no input from him.

Seriously? Does everything come to this? Pitiful.

I doubt I will watch, but I would not have watched Jay, or any other winner either. Once they win, I don't really care about them.

On another note, of course FN is picking the shows and telling them how to do it. I am sure they get input, but their POV only matters for the contest. You do the show they want you to do or go home.

He doesn't. Eddie isn't some celebrity TV guy pitching a show. He won a gameshow contest. It's really up to FN, what his show is about until Eddie gets some sort of following like a Giada or Flay. And even then, FN has final approval. But, for a very new FN personality, he's on a very short leash.

Not really a novel idea. And i don't think BBQ shows last very long, because it's sort of a restrained topic to build multiple shows around.

The tailgating idea is very good, however, as you can have a host travel college and pro games to see how the tailgating is done. I'm really surprised they've never done that before, and it's shitty FN ripped that idea from Jay.

I know you have a love fest for Eddie, and i think he was definitely top 2, but his idea was health foods, not tailgating. IMO, they should have went with Jay if they were using this idea because that's what Jay knows. Eddie played pro ball, doesn't mean he tailgated. If anything, he has the least experience with tailgating than anyone on the show, because all of his time at games, was game prep, not tailgating.

I like Eddie, but agree with this 100%.

What is better than a big heavy guy with lots of personality at a tailgate?

Never thought of this. I have more tailgate experience than he.

He had no say in the "BBQ Blitz" concept for the show. Just like Jay had no say in the "Deep Fried America" concept that they gave him.

Jay is an overweight guy from the south. I'd assume he knows about deep fried food

Eddie is a football player, he knows about bbq and tailgates

How dense are you people?

Jay knows as much about tailgating as anyone I know. He's run tailgates for fricking years and even won tailgate competitions. You have to be a fit football player to be able to know how to do this? How stupid are you?

this makes zero sense. Eddie was too busy playing football to know anything about tailgating

also, as a self-professed health food nut and trainer, i would see him as far from fatty bbq as possible

finally, bobby flay has any level of healthy bbq cooking shows on lock

What if he created a video blog and did his own show? Gets enough followers and voila someone picks it up.
