That's one of my favorite bottles of the year so far. Old fashioned and mint julep at a restaurant for first few pours. Back home for 3pd

Evening guys, had an Old Fashioned at a restaurant with dinner.
First pour back at home is a fresh crack
A decent pour, I much prefer their bourbon mashbill over their rye, though. This one has cinnamon and a bit of a grassy note on the nose, the rye definitely stands out. On the palate I don’t really get the cinnamon note up front, more of a grassy herbal profile, but the cinnamon (Willett signature) comes in on the finish. The more I drink it the more I enjoy it, but still doesn’t really hold up to the better Willett bourbons that I’ve had.
Overall pretty solid, I would be interested in how it holds up in a blind versus some Old Carter ryes.
ETA: yes I was writing the tasting notes as I was tasting so it evolved a bit

NPD, sticking with ryes.
I very much regret not buying another one of these (Rossville Union Rye TSR pick). Such a great and unique rye. Super fruit forward with a grape candy note. Not as complex as the Willett rye, but man this thing hits above it’s weight class.

Thanks for posting. I always enjoy seeing the tasting notes. Didn't you say you had a 134 proof purple top? I'd be interested in swapping samples at some point, if you want to compare batches.I've got the 133.8.

I do, and will hopefully pop it tomorrow night unless something comes up. Definitely down to swap samples. I’ll reach out via email next week if I end up popping this weekend.

Took a detour from the ryes. Wish this was easier to find

This was my 1PD, it's so good. I'm sad I'm more than halfway through it, it was a find in Lexington.
The Aberlour 16 double cask up there...hell yes. I think I will search for that.
