I am looking for a scotch whisky(single malt) as a gift for acceptance into a fellowship. Looking to keep it between $200-$300. I know nothing about scotch so looking for some recs.

I finished the Godzilla RR pick a while back. Still need to open the Kong. I've been going with the Double oak lately.

Glendronach 21 EDIT: Or some of the limited stuff from Springbank, Kilkerran, or a good non-distiller producer bottling

It’s getting difficult to find good scotch right now. 200-300 is also a weird price range, because there’s usually a jump from the 100-200 range to the 400-500 range when you go from an 18 year to 23-25yrs. At least that’s been my experience. Now if you go for lesser known smaller distilleries (which are better IMO), then you will find some good 20-25yr bottles in rhat 200-300 range. Here are ones I personally enjoy plenty.
Craigalachie 23 is one of my favorites. It’s $225 I believe at Acquistipace. This would be my top recommendation.
Arran 21 is around $200, but I don’t know how available it is in La.
Springbank 15 is around $150, but the SBs are impossible to find now unfortunately.
Kilkerren just recently released a 16yr for around $135. I saw one at total wine the other day, so they’re still floating around out here.
Oban 18 is one of the best you can buy in the $150 range, but again it’s impossible to find.
Glenfarclas has a 21 year old in the $200 range. I have not had it, but it’s supposed to be great and is an awesome deal for that price.
Hope this helps some. SingleMalt and Bus are more experienced in the scotch realm, so hopefully they see this and chime in on it.

Can’t remember exactly where I picked that batch up but it’s usually somewhere in $90-$100 range.

Where you located? I'd been seeing around a good bit around Laffy, even to a point where Total Wine marked it down. Id assume it'll be around sooner rather than later.

Went to Maisano's this morning. One of the best bourbon/rye selections id seen in a while. The staff out there is awesome. There was a Nulu Rye Cognac Finished Barrel out there that caught my eye. Any of yall baws had that?
Also, there was a Discovery 7 out there if yall were interested.
