I don't get any licorice in it, and that's a taste that usually stands out to me.

Thats wild...some people don't mention it. And some people say that's the dominate flavor. This bottle is like the cilantro of bourbon lol

Admittedly I'm no expert in tastings, nor have I tasted as many as a lot of you guys on here, but I was not a big fan of the Penelope Toasted.
I didn't get any licorice at all, but I also did not get much of any toast either as compared to other toasted offerings, but this was more of peat like a scotch.
Started okay, but finished of leather again reminding me more of scotch.
I also had it neat, whereas I usually prefer my bourbon to be on ice, but when trying anything new for the first time I always sip it neat to try and get a full flavor sampling before adding ice to note the difference.

I'm guessing you mean the one that was finished in what had to be soaking wet absinthe barrels. I love pouring that one for people....they never know what to think
