I love this description from MM
“This first release tastes just like a Kentucky barrel warehouse smells,” says Bowie. “If you’ve ever walked through a rick house and taken a deep breath, you can almost taste the bourbon in the air, and that’s the experience we’ve created with FAE-01. There’s tons of pleasantly dank wood and tobacco on the nose, and rich, warm raisin and fig on the tongue – it’s literally like sipping on angel’s share.”

Is the profile as “dark” as it seems? I don’t typically think of darker notes when I think of MM, but that description reads that way to me.

If you’ve never seen gator bait I suggest you watch it.

That’s the best of the WTs right there. I’m looking forward to a few years from now when all their bottles are packaged with high aged juice. They are a great example of a new distillery doing it right. They make their own whiskey, and they are patient about their releases.

Agreed...I haven’t liked em all at the price point, but this one delivers big time
2PD...just booked an anniversary trip, used cancelled Amsterdam miles from 2020 to book that and a bourbon trail trip

Where to? We just hit up Natchez for a quick anniversary weekend, but we are going to Italy in October as long as the COVID police allow it.
I want to do a bourbon trail badly. Bucket list is to dress up and go to the Derby and then hit the trail.

Me and some buddies did the blind Rye tasting at Martin’s last night. 8 different Ryes all different proofs. I guess around 35-45 people total broken into 4 groups. Couple of surprises...Ragged Branch seemed to be the overall favorite but it was also the highest proof so maybe more proof more flavor? Wild Turkey Rare Breed was mixed review. Almost everyone agreed it had a great flavor but overall consensus was the finish was extremely short. Even with the disappointing finish, a few did have it as their favorite. The biggest surprise I thought was the absolute overwhelmingly agreement by everyone that one particular pour was absolute garbage.....Basil Hayden’s 10yr Rye. Maybe if tasted alone it wouldn’t have done so poorly but in the blind last night with 7 other pours it was completely shredded with bad comments. Fun night though. Blind tastings are always a learning experience.

Really? I tried their wheated, and I thought it was terrible. One of the rare times when I actually poured it into the sink. Guess I need to try their rye then.

It was gonna be to Key West, but turns out week between Christmas and New Years is the busiest of the year, so thankful for that 24-hour cancellation option
