Wife and I did this wheated blind to help with future purchases since none of these are easy to find for us. Penelope and Bardstown were consensus 1/2 with us flip flopping on them and Ben Holladay consensus #4. Relieved to not have to search for the Ben Holiday anymore.

Blind tasting is eye opening.

Holladay Soft Red Rickhouse proof is kind of my jam. I prefer that over the traditional whested bourbons. I’ve got the Bardstown one and it’s ok but it’s got a weird funk on the back end.

I agree with this. Everyone’s palate is different. I don’t care for Penelope wheated but that’s my palate. I really like Redwood Empire Screaming Titan and it’s a wheated bourbon. My palate tends to say it’s better than all of the ones in the blind tasting. As Weller I really like Weller Full Proof.

I like bombergers quite a bit but the PFG blew me away. Definitely worth the extra on the price tag

Tonight I popped a kings county bottle in bond. Not sure I’ve ever gotten such intense flavor from a 4 year old hundred proofer

I've heard good things about that bottle but I've never tried it.
