I found the Jack 12 for $200 but the crazy dude wouldn’t make a deal. I’m not paying 2.5 times over msrp.

JD 12 is good but I wouldn’t pay $200 for it.

Had a marg at a Mexican restaurant earlier but this is my first legit pour of the night. One of the replacements for last night’s bottle kill.

130 proof, 12 year MGP rye, for a lot less than $200

Such a good bottle. Bought one right after the bourbon boom had started, just as I was getting into bourbon. Kind of got lucky since I didn't know exactly what I was buying, but had heard about it on a tuber's channel. That one is actually $250 or so on secondary these days. Had a chance to get one last year for about $150, but didn't pull the trigger. As good as most premium BT products people chase.

I also thought it was a pretty solid bottle. Saw a few Discovery 11’s on the shelf today, but haven’t seen any of the 12’s. I’m going to go out of my way to grab a 13, I felt like the Wheated mash took away from the 11, and I see they have omitted that in the 13. It’s 9 year Barton, 9 year Heaven Hill, 15 year Turkey, and 8 year Green River (70/21rye/9 mashbill).

I think I prefer the wild turkey lineup over Buffalo Trace. Don’t shoot me.

Everyday WT, BT are great pours.

If you haven’t already, check out Wilderness Trail bourbon. They do crazy stuff with their yeast in the mashbill that creates some tasty stuff.

Have you had any of Backyard’s whiskey? I didn’t know they had their own whiskey? Are they distilling over there? The 7 year double oak rye sounds interesting.

Oh yeah I go in there once a month or so. Have a couple of their bottles. The DO sold out quickly. His brisket is as good as anyone’s. Great bar area to eat lunch at and has Ghost on tap.

Edit

He buys the barrels from somewhere in KY and finishes them here and bottles them.

Their Carrie’s Proof 107 wheater is as good as OWA. Search Whiskeyer on YouTube.
