Good evening gentlemen. Just checking in with an ounce of a really interesting project involving Barrell. Whiskies from TN,KY, IN, Canada, and Scotland are in the blend, ranging from 17 to 22 years with an ice wine finish. This is part three in the series (didn't try either of the others).

Afternoon baws, late posting from last night. Popped into Jack Rose (DC) last night for a couple pours before dinner, we were on a tight timeline due to a dinner reservation at Fiola Mare (excellent btw). For those of you who don’t know Jack Rose owner Bill Thomas has a close relationship with Willett Distillery (they do probably a dozen purple top picks every year).

I started the night with a banger, Haz-Matters, a 148 proof 9 year bourbon. This one had all of the typical Willett profile notes just turned up to 11, strong cinnamon, dark stone fruits, just Willett deliciousness

The second pour of the night was another 9 yr bourbon, this one coming in at 142.4 proof, Trinidad Sour Mash. It was a bit off profile, leaning more towards the smokiness that you’ll sometimes get on Willett bourbons, it also had a sassafras note, almost like root beer. Definitely unique and delicious, off profile to an extent but awesome.

Overall it was another awesome experience tasting Willett SiBs that you won’t find anywhere else. Fantastic pours at an inflated yet decent price. They also had a 23 year purple top from the early 2000’s that went for $1,300 an oz, but I shied away from that one

If you’re a Willlet fan, or a fan of whiskey in general (which obviously we all are), I would definitely make it a point to pop into Jack Rose the next time you’re in DC.

I really enjoy this one, flavorful, smooth, warm finish.
