That stinks. He and the Lincoln Rd guy have great palettes for picking bourbon out.
No doubt! I’m hoping he may be involved still with barrel picks from there. Not sure if the new owners keep the name but it sounds like he has a developed relationship with them so I would think he may be used as an asset to them and a great resource when getting barrel picks…….hopefully.

Yep, I posted about it a few weeks ago. KLuke was started in part due to the frustration of distilleries allocating not only bottles, but also private barrels based almost exclusively on volume. The loyalty meant nothing. For example he made 45 picks for four roses, but was limited to one last year. The last pick of a turkey product was also made last year.
Once you add in how successful KLuke has been, it makes a lot of sense to shift focus. Regardless of if he continued as the owner, that store was in line for far fewer high profile picks each year. It sucks to see, but is completely understandable.

As it turns out, I had a sample(Single barrel barrel proof?) yesterday of one close to 130, and it wasn't for me. Probably like to stay closer to 100 and bourbon over rye.
Unfortunately their better available pours are higher proof, or rye (bonded rye). You can try to keep an eye out for a JD 10 or JD 12, those are lower proof 96 and 107 respectively, but are also rare.

After reading that and their story, I'll be purchasing more K.Luke in the future.

Glad these are in Louisiana now. I'm impressed by the first pour. The sherry and cognac are noticeable and work well together.

One of my favorite bottles. What part of Louisiana did you find that? Last bottle I’ve gotten came from Maisano’s in Ocean Springs. Think I paid around 105 for it. Have never seen it closer to me yet but your post gives me hope!

Thibodaux/Houma. It was 90 plus tax. I used to see them pretty often at Maisano's, but never pulled the trigger. I was impressed with the first pour.
They had Murray hill and the cigar blend as well.

Oh interesting. That’s doable for me. Liquor store? Rouses?

New Riff bourbon will be coming to Louisiana starting later this month

They had them at bayouside in Thibodaux and Cannatas in Houma.
Wick, good news about New riff. Southern bourbon bayou society has done a handful of picks over the years. They do cool experimental stuff with ryes as well. I've enjoyed everything I've tried from them.
