the "cool" factor has definitely forced stores to handle demand in ways they probably never have before. some make it "fair", some dont. i dont really have any contacts at any of the local stores anymore so I slum it with the rest. luckily i collected a good bit of limited bottlings before i lost all my connections

This thread is much more enjoyable after 5 pm. You know, when everyone actually starts drinking whiskey.

It seems like a lot of the Lafayette guys get to it before 5pm most days. I need a job out there.

Is Don's the place to drink in Laffy? I go to Don's in BR for the Chargrilled Oysters but never had anything other than a few beers.

i wouldn't say its "the" place to drink in Laffy by any stretch, they make a decent OF and the lunch menu is legit and by lunch i mean bloody Mary

Just asking because I always see the laffy baws either drinking at Don's or NOLAGT's back yard.

Don's actually has a decent burger for lunch as well. But for an everyday OF, they aren't bad at all. I think "the" drinking place for bourbon enthusiast is Social. At least it's my go to.

Agreed, my favorite spot for drinks in Laf...Though Ruffino's has stepped up its bourbon game as well.

You think the Bourbon "cool" factor will wear off anytime soon?

I mean, everyone is drinking the shite right now.

People I know who never used to touch Bourbon are buying it now and drinking it.

I was highly impressed the first time I had it. I got a few bottles and emptied them too quickly. I really think it's a step up from their U.S. 1 whiskey (same mashbill). Tons more spice and tannins and the nose is even more full. I thought it was worth the search and the bump in cost for sure.
