Yeah we dont track purchases. You enter your name and its in there one time for each bottle, no matter who you are. This the fairest way to do things in our eyes.
If we just gave bottles to our loyal customers, there would be a ton that would be left out. Our loyal customer base is very big.

I agree there is no perfect way to distribute. But you will get flippers at the raffles. The loyalty program assures real fans will get it and drink it, but this doesn't help the new fans very much.

My only suggestion is to not allow multiple winners. You can enter your name for all bottles, but once you win you are done for the night.

I got zero sympathy for your view when you swoop up half of the Cure Oak in BR and immediately try and trade/sell two of them
Why are you always trying to bait me JCANS? I didn't sell those bottles I traded the 3 that I got for a Pappy 20, ER17 + EHT Single Barrel. If you are still BUTT HURT go home and put some Boudreaux's Butt Paste on your ANUS.
Many times I have offered up some pretty damn good bottles that I have extra of to this group at my cost. I don't remember you ever responding yet you cry like a kid looking through the candy store window. WTF?

Sorry to everyone else. I know this board is for whiskey appreciation so I'll drop it

Also I'm sure I'm in the minority in this but I like the raffle system. It does mean that the majority of us won't get a bottle of something which sucks but it's a level playing field. Yes some sort of loyalty program would be awesome at a place like Calandros but that isn't how they operate. Maybe one day they could look into that. I prefer that to how other places do it. Some places up charge insane prices where you don't want to buy it from them. Others is based solely on a loyalty factor which is great if you are one of the few people that get the bottles. But those places have been doing it that way for years now and the same guys have been getting bottles for years now. Some of us are much newer to the bourbon lifestyle than others and at least with this there is a chance of getting something cool.
It's not a perfect system but I feel like it's the best for what's out there. Now I do think I speak for most everyone, if you win a bottle of pappy at a lottery, you better drink it and not try and flip it for a grand. We hate those people.
Well said.

It was actually 2 x EHTCO + $100 for the Pappy 20
The other trade was with a poster on this board and it was 1 x EHTCO for a 2013 ER 17 + EHT Single Barrel.

So you legally acquired bourbon...traded said bourbon for other bourbon so you can partake of the latter...all the while living in a free market capitalist country???
The horror!!!

...Sell/Trade same thing. Point is you took bottles off the shelf that others could have enjoyed. I got mine, not butt hurt here. Dont try and act like some whiskey saint cause you offered up a couple bottles at price you paid. Sorry to everyone else. I know this board is for whiskey appreciation so I'll drop it
Ok JCANS. You are the FNG here so I will let you in on a little secret. A lot of the guys on this board trade bottles. I personally have traded bottles with quite a few guys on this board. And guess what? The bottles from both ends of those trades came off of a shelf in BR, NOLA, Lafayette, etc.

not this shite again...
jlsufan....your not gonna get any sympathy for whining about being a loyal customer in here. that ship has sailed.
and people that are getting bottles "bought out from under them", up your game.
if you dont wanna see a bottle from "your" local store on facebook do more work so you get that bottle or dont look at facebook.
this thread sure is alot more whiney than it used to be

Imagine that! After JCANS gets past Free Enterprise next year I would suggest ECON 101.

I'm not the one that keeps bringing it up. It's Little Lord Fauntleroy with the idealistic views.

Maybe it's just the Libretarian in me, but I feel each store has a right to sell/raffle/up charge as they please. The supply/demand will adjust the rates. I know how each store handles their allocation...those that reward loyalty, I spend a lot at on wine and give the salesman /manager rare bottles when I come upon them elsewhere, those that up charge I try to avoid, etc.
If the store allows you to buy as many as you want, then one should buy as many as they want.
What one does with their private property is their choice.
There is limited supply and high demand...these issues are not just a whiskey thing.

This thread is much more enjoyable after 5 pm. You know, when everyone actually starts drinking whiskey.
