Just curious why is the Weller special reserve so much easier to find than the Weller 12 is the 12 that much better. Is the wsr worth the buy?

Yep, in my opinion, the Weller 12 is way better. The special reserve is in no way bad but its not one I keep on hand.

That Fred Noe Knob Creek sold out fast at Calandro's. Does anyone know if the Government location has any?

Anyone know of any respectable online retailers that have a good selection? Preferably somewhere that allows you to sign up for alerts for certain items. Klwines seems to pop up most often when I search.

Gonna make on old fashioned with dark brown sugar in place of regular sugar tonight. Anyone ever try that?

I've seen it at a few different cocktail bars down here...usually made with a brown sugar syrup type concoction

I didn't find the Special Reserve to be anything "special." It was OK, but I've definitely had better. It may end up as my cocktail bourbon. I definitely want to try the 12 year if I can find it.

Just use benchmark 8 as your cocktail bourbon. Buffalo trace product that's really good for the lack of money. You can get a handle for $20.00 or so.

Is that the stuff for sale on Caskers all the time? Something tells me its another fly by night "craft" NDP

Yeah, that's where I saw it...on Caskers. Was curious about it. Thanks. Ended up buying a couple others to try that I'm pretty sure are gonna be a great starting point for a Bourbon newb like me. Starting slow and will keep lurking here for tips.
