If you must have an Islay, try Laphroaig 18. If that is a bit steep for the checkbook, Laphroaig quarter cask isn't bad but it isn't 18yo good.
If you are willing to venture out, try Taliskers 18, Distillers Edition or Storm. They are all very good.

Is there any difference in Elijah Craig age stated 12 yr old bottles than the regular small batch?

there isnt supposed to be, I believe it still says 12 yr on the back? I believe Heaven Hill said they changed the label to make it more like the Barrel Proof offering but many believe its because they will eventually make it a non age statement offering.

I didn't think there was any difference, have noticed on some of the FB groups they will say age stated, I just assumed it was an older bottle, saw a few 1/2s at lunch that were age stated.

Im sure people will try and sell the ones with the 12 on the front for a higher price now if they have some

I made a trade for one. Should be her this weekend. I've tried it too and it's delicious. Very good juice in my opinion. I remember it being somewhat oaky and definitely not hot at all. Am a big fan.

I bought the ec18 on Tuesday night. Mrs SMS confiscated it and called it my xmas present and then hid it. Mrs. SMS is mean.
