Im not sure what the secondary market values are right now but that seems low. Last I remember 15 was $500ish and Rye was $700ish. Arent people getting like $2k for 23 now?

I agree with G...money wise, it's not a good value, since 23 is just at ridiculous price points these days.

However, if you're someone who doesn't enjoy the 23 as much as the 20 or the rye, splitting with a 23 for two VW bottles isn't too bad.

How many 23's do you have stored as opposed to 15, 20 & rye?

i agree, that's not a good trade for you GT, way to light on their end, get him to throw in another 15/20 maybe, (2) 15/20's and 1 VWFRR sounds much better

Actually the Pappy 15's have been getting $700 as of late and the VW Rye is about $700 as well. The Pappy 23's are going for about $1500. So value wise it is a little lower than secondary but quite honestly I would do the deal especially if you can get some kind of sweetener on top of it. I believe last year was the last year of older Rye as well and this year is supposed to be new juice but in not for sure on that. Maybe a ORVW 10 or Lot B on top.

I seem to remember that too on the rye...or was it the Saz18 im thinking about being new this year. Idk...ill think about it and see if it can be modified any. I just have a hard time giving up a 23 once its in my grips since they are never a sure thing.

Like I said I would do it especially if you can get them to sweeten the pot a little. You have more 23's than 15's or Rye right now plus it may be a little under secondary in value today but looking forward I think the value of a Pappy 15 + VWFRR will exceed the value of 1 bottle of Pappy 23.

yea i can see that too.. hell, i'd rather have a 15 and Rye than a 23 if we're drinking it. anything over 20 years for me and it starts to taste like a tree

That's a tricky situation though, there will be more 15s flooding secondary in a few months than 23s or VWFRR. It really depends, in my opinion on how much the Rye will appreciate in value.

That's if you are looking at it strictly for money. Personally, I like the 15 and 20 better than the 23 and that rye is spectacular, I'd do it and never regret it.

Now that is a no brainer. But you might have to throw in a bottle of Benchmark to seal the deal.
