Ended up in Brookhaven to look at a claim today. Saw a liquor store and stopped to see if they had anything good. It was a newer store, nothing impressive on the shelf. EC was on the top shelf. I asked the guy working there if he had anything else and he said like what. I said any better bourbons that you don't have on the shelf. Thought I had something going when he hinted at stuff in the back that wasn't on the shelf.

Then he drops the fact that he keeps the Eagle Rare and Buffalo Trace in the back due to allocations. I just laughed and said I was looking for something a little higher end.

How much does a bottle of Pappy 15 year usually go for on the resale market?

A quick looks says probably $800-$1k depending on the year.

I would say 750-800 for 2015.

Sounds about right. I found a liquor store in Vegas with a bottle priced at 2k, a bottle of Rip 12 for 1k, a bottle of Yamazaki 12 for 400 and all kinds of high end wines at near restaurant prices. I want to go back and ask the dude if he's hoping people will just have money to blow or hoping he'll get tourists who don't know what things should actually cost.

Lol...that's absurd.

Old rip would be the most disappointing 1k whiskey ever
