Thought of you guys today and figured I'd say hiya. I scored a couple 1.75 liter of Early times for 18$ brought they home ad used them to refill my fifths I have scattered around. Getting ready for Fall. Let the first good cool front pass through and i will visit all 4 of them and knock the neck off to commemorate the season.

If supply was not an issue on any bourbon and everything was available at retail, what would be your everyday pours, and your splurge pours?

Weller 12 and 4 Rose store picks, Eagle Rare 17, Stagg, WLW would be every day pours, Pappy 20, Booker Rye off the top of my head for splurge pours.

I have never had any of the older Willet bottles, but I have heard they are excellant.

We may see this in 8-10 years with the amount of brown being produced right now. Hipsters will probably have a new passion by then.. I hope so anyway.

Everyday low(er) proof pours would be ELT, W12, OFBB, ER17, and older barrels of OBSV barrel picks. Splurge pours, or High octane shite, Would me my 2 favorite bottles... GTS & WLW.

Old fashion question guys. I routinely make old fashions for the MIL, how long will the juice last in the fridge before going bad? Thanks ahead of time !!!!!

If you mean the bitters they dont require refrigeration. They should last avout forever they are like 90 proof.

You must have missed the part about it being a hypothetical situation where there were no supply issues and all bourbon was readily available at retail.

FYI- I just found a facebook bourbon group, Bourbon Sample Swap. You can buy and sell 1-2oz samples of many bottles.

I’ve had this dream multiple times and it’s glorious!
But then if it’s not “rare” anymore does that mean it’s not AS good!??

Hell if I could find a $20 bourbon that I loved, I have no desire to look elsewhere. I don't have a need to chase rare, I just want good juice.

sorry I wasn’t clear, I make her about 3-4 OF, then put these in a glass jar with lid. Just wondering how long before the stuff will go bad in the fridge?

I would make to order, as long as you have premade the simple syrup (which should last a couple of months) everything else should only take 45 seconds to throw together...

I've never had a Sazerac cocktail before. What does Absinthe taste like and is it necessary?

Has a black jelly bean smell IMO. And yes it’s necessary. Grab a bottle for $20 or less and it’ll make sazeracs until your grandkids are born.

I Use a mister because all you’re doing is coating the glass with it.

Marcello's in laffys Sazerac recipe (that I use)

They put club soda and 1/2 absinthe and let it sit in the glass with ice, but like UNk said mist it if you can and leave out club soda.

3/4oz simple syrup
2.5 os rye whisky
6-7 dashes Angostura and Peycheauds

Mix above in separate glass then pour over the ice in the first glass and garnish with a lemon twist.

Use the baby saz for the rye
