First 3 pours...no. I was ready to trade for CO and Tornado. However, last night (it's been opened for about 2 weeks) I have to say it opened up and was really great. EHT'S in general are big and bold and I think need some time. I had the same initial reaction with some of their releases.

My blind results: Batch 3, 10, 12, 4, 6
Wife's results: Batch 6, 3, 12, 4, 10

I enjoy oakier bourbons, so it's not a big surprise that 3 was my top choice. It was actually a tougher than expected call between 12 and 10 for me. I'm not typically a fan of bourbon finished in wine barrels, but this one is really good. I was clearly not a fan of the new standard whiskey barrel ones.

That Heaven Hill select is interesting. I'm not a huge fan of cognac so I didn't love it enough to drop 150 on it. But now that I'm home, I'm regretting not buying it and the Evan Williams 23.

The HH Select REALLY opens up with a drop or two of water, it was a totally different drink from sip 1 to 2.

The connoisseur was one of my bigger disappointments. We had Larceny, McKenna, Bernheim, and HH Select.

Evan williams totally caught me off guard when they offered the 23 during the tasting.

How is that? Is it available without selling an organ?

Yeah that's why I was so disappointed.

We did the speakeasy at EWE, which was one of my favorites (along with the barrel tour at BT) because it wasn't just the same old stuff. They let us have EW BiB, Pikesville, EW 12 and EW 23 so I was pleasantly surprised there.
