Fake. I know one way it was happening was that he was buying empties from EBAY and filling with fake juice.
Yeah it's bad shite. As more and more people are coming forward with sketchy bottles he could've made tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars. Just don't know the full scope yet.

Wanted to say thank you to Wick and SMS for coming out last night. The Cove provided some excellent pours for us. That Bookers 25th anniversary was ridiculously good. The older Elijah Craig's were excellent as well. We're going to get back into a routine of every other month or once a quarter so if you couldn't make this event there will be plenty more.

Thanks for putting it together, I had a good time with some excellent bourbon.

I have never bought or sold on there but I like to keep up with pricing to know what I have. I think the second-hand market will see significant changes in the wake of this event.

Had a good time. Saw some folks I haven't seen in a while. The Bookers 25th was excellent. The blood oath pact 1 not so much.
Looking forward to future events.

This. I've never bought...though I've been tempted. Sad situation.

I doubt it. People move on and forget.
Wine secondary markets barely changed at all after the Rudy Kurniawan debacle and that totaled into the millions.

Still two bottles of Barrel Proof EHT at Hokus Pokus. Just picked up another bottle. Have a few single barrels too.

I went to Bourbon House last night for their Angel's Envy event. I'm a novice in the bourbon scene, so my palette is quite limited compared to those here. Anyway I want to share my experience and see what others think.
I've been hesitant to buy AE even though I've seen others on here speak positively of it. $50 is a steep price point for a blind taste. I used this opportunity to eat some good food (which it was) and finally try the AE.
I loved it. I bought me a signed bottle for $40, and I continued drinking when I got home. BH mixed up 3 cocktails with it (mint julep, boulevardier and paper airplane) and used the AE in each of their courses. The Boulv was my favorite cocktail, and my wife loved the paper air. She hates bourbon but had to admit this one was quite good.
The real winner though: Angel's Envy Rye
Holy shite that was outstanding! They paired this with the desert, and it's the best sipper I personally have tasted (which is admittedly a limited list). It's aged in rum barrels, and the mellowed sweetness was noticeable. It smelled like maple syrup and had a similar taste. The rye was there but tamed by the rum cask. I guess if you're a true rye fan you may not like this, but if you want something unique then this is it. It's 100 proof; however, you wouldn't know it by taste.
Any others have this or have tried it? I want a bottle, but the next batch won't be ready until October. Even then it will be difficult to acquire.
Thoughts?

I saw both the bourbon ($50) and the Rye ($70 or $80) at Hocus Pocus today in Prairieville.
