Not a member of either at the moment. Was Sam's member for a long time.

Costco is higher quality but Sam's is more everyday I guess. Neither one is that much so I just have them both.

I find sams has more variety but Costco has better quality.

Costco seems better at customer service and is not a Walmart company.

These are the dozen or so products we used to buy a Sam's all the time:

Solo cups
paper food trays
paper towels
salad
rotisserie chicken
paper plates
non-stick skillets (every other year)
shredded mozzarella cheese
bulk baking soda
pork loin
trash bags
toilet paper
sliced American cheese

Should I switch to Costco?

I wouldn't switch if that's all you get there.

That's what I'm thinking. But what does Costco have that I might want. We don't drink wine.

Rat .. Costco is geared much more to consumers than Sams is. You can get a one day pass. I suggest going on a Saturday. They put out their prime meat, a lot of times the fish monger is out. Much better wine, beer and booze selection.

By itself, Kirkland, across the board is much better than Members Mark.

Costcos > Sams

Was a member of Sams for years. Costco is awesome, minus the northern shoppers that leave their carts in the middle of the isles

Every costco I've been to has prime beef out every day. Even Prime brisket $2.99/lb sometimes $2.49 a lb.

Costco has better customer service and it’s less ghetto.

If you're about same distance from both I'd suggest Costco for the reasons others mentioned, but I wouldn't drive past a Sam's to go to Costco. I don't think either is across the board cheaper, but I'd suggest going old school with pen and paper and making a list of prices of what you buy most often.

Costco has higher quality food and a better wine department which are the things I am most interested in , but there is a Sam's 5 minutes from my house and to get to Costco I have to drive across town. Therefore I just have a Sam's card .

The Rotisserie chickens taste better and are bigger at Costco. We have both memberships. Paper goods are better at Costco and the sales seem better. 90% of the Kirkland branded alcohol is really good. Especially the American Vodka. We shop at both though.

Sam's toilet paper > Costco toilet paper

I switched back to Sam's just because of it. Overall though, Costco is better imo... especially if you're into all the organic, healthy craze.

You may also want to consider that Walmart is closing a lot of Sam's stores because of the minimum wage increases at Walmart. Who knows how long your local Sam's will remain open.
