i dont really need a full turkey, its just 3 of us.
so where can i get a turkey leg quarter or half side of a turkey?
i never really shopped for a turkey before so what options can you find besides the frozen solid whole bird?

My local grocer does a good job. I can get whole birds, whole breasts, half breast, and legs/thighs. I love getting just the thighs and smoking them for my beans.

For $1/lb why not just buy the smallest whole bird available? You can purchase them "fresh" not frozen as well.
I've never seen Turkey 1/4s. Only whole bird, wings, or breast.

Have never been able to find them. I end up just parting out wholes.

Albertsons has legs and wings portioned all the time. Not sure what it’s like for Thanksgiving though because you can just buy a whole turkey for cheap right now so it’s probably not worth it.
All the grocery stores also see just the whole frozen breast, so you could do that as well.

hmm, albertsons doesnt show any locations in louisiana
well i like the white meat just when its fresh cooked, but its too dry after that for me.
the girls like legs and thighs so leg quarters would be my perfect choice.
no matter all the basting or injecting i do, i never was able to get the turkey breast to not be dry as hell

You pull the turkey when the breast hits 155. Thermal inertia will have the turkey continue cooking for roughly another 10 degrees. If you pull it at 165, it'll keep cooking and be dry.
I would just get a turkey breast, inject and season it, then cook with a probe to make sure you don't overcook it.

BetR in Baton Rouge (overpass) has these in stock some of the time and if not, they will likely cut them for you. Several different pieces of the turkey put out every day.
