Of course there’s Bacchanal and Bayou Wine Garden, but what are some lesser known, quieter places where you can converse with your company?

The Tasting Room on magazine is excellent. Back courtyard area is a bit more intimate too.

Since they haven't been mentioned yet, I really enjoyed Oak, Effervescence, The Vintage and Claret.

No love for the variety at WINO? I wandered in there w/friends who were attending a convention downtown, and it's a clever concept. But, we were the only ppl in the place on a Wednesday around happy hour.

Looking for new, more intimate places to take the lady friend. If you know what I mean...

A lady friend? Like Bea Arthur or Betty White? Sounds like a date from the Golden Girls. Good Luck.

I like Patrick’s Bar Vin behind Old Absinthe. Quiet but close to a lot of action.

Vintage has an awesome inside (and pastries); claret has a cool little patio

ETA: If you are looking for intimate, Vintage or Oak would be my suggestions.

Swirl Wine across from Cafe Degas is a good shop. They also have good wine tastings on Friday nights and they serve finger foods. You can go eat at 1000 Figs, Santa Fe or Cafe Degas after.
