Overall, I really enjoy sitting at the bar @ Parrain's eating their chargrilled oysters. There obviously much nicer restaurants with him more exquisite menu, that I do enjoy, but Parrain's bar is great.

How is Doe's not on this list? I love that place.
i had the porterhouse from Does a few days ago.
Got to a certain part of the steak and it smelt very sour and it lingered on me for the rest of the day.
ill pass.

Also if I had to pick a Mexican place, Mi Padres in Gonzales has some awesome food. Ambiance could be improved but the food is second to none in Baton Rouge. And this is coming from a guy who lives less than 10 minutes from superior and la carreta.

If you like a sweet red sauce, monjunis is your place. If you don't like sweet red sauce tho..... Order something else when you go there. Nice place tho otherwise. Good tiramisu.

Only time I ate at Does was last yr during restaurant wk with a fixed price menu. The ribeye was really, really outstanding. The bread and dessert and sides were obviously on the cheaper side, as they had clearly gone all-in on the steak. But boy did they hit it out of the park with that steak, a medium rare ribeye. Nom.

Favorite choice for lunch is Albasha. It's good, super consistent, decent prices and the service is good.

That's what I love Does. Outstanding steak, but not a stuffy place. I prefer the casual feel at Doe's as opposed to the upscale feel at Ruth's.

Your Mom's is my favorite new place. Roux 61 as well. Both great new places.

Especially for folks who like really dark cramped restaurants, waiting 40 minutes for a pizza, excessive grease, and paying cash.
