But the abundance of refined sugar is what is killing us.

The sugar industry has done an incredible job at making us think fat in food is horrible.

Also, the food pyramid is the dumbest fricking concoction

I don’t know if it’s a staple but doughnuts are pretty popular in the office and to the best of my knowledge, have zero nutritional value. But damn, they’re tasty.

Righty-o! Once again, the last bastion of defense for a high and righty: it was a joke! Can’t you take a joke? You have learned so well from your mongoloid leader

How fricked in the head do you have to be to be on a Food Board thread about worst foods and you have to bring up your irrational hatred of the current President?

I honestly would probably off myself if I filtered my entire life through a political lens like you appear to.

What a sad little man.

Really dude? I was going to RA to have this thread moved to Health/Fitness, but I don't want to subject those fine people to your inhumanity.

ETA: I just noticed this has been moved from OT to F/D. Same comment as above though.

To get back to the question at hand, the answer is that fact we load all our foods with sugar.

Our ancestors grew up eating bacon, tons of meat, cooked with lard, etc. etc. and for the most part your average person didn't balloon up to the fatass sizes we have today.

The one thing that changed was the injection of sugar (mainly through HFCS) in to processed food and our diet in general starting in the 70s. Like someone else said, the sugar/hfcs industry did a damn good propaganda job of blaming everything on fat.

Oil, no matter what kind, is 120cal per tablespoon. Health benefits of all good fats aside, they're all calorie dense. It was wrong for us to treat fat as the devil for as long as we did, but it doesn't mean do a 180 and overconsume.

That's not to say it isn't great to work in nuts, avocados, etc. into your overall calorie limit. They have a lot of benefits. But a lot of people misunderstand when they hear the term "healthy", so they shovel oil and nuts down their throat with no limitation and they wonder why they can't lose weight.

Personally, I don't find oil worth it at my height. I don't cook with it pretty much at all.

I understand your point in regards to calories, but from a a cholesterol point of view, I read that Coconut oil was out of favor again. My original point was the best fats were Grass fed butter and Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
