Anyone know how/when the FBD thread started? I never participate but am a daily looker of the thread.

I think the idea came from mouton. He was a very active poster back then.

I started it back in 2010 maybe. My older cousin originated the term "FBD" ("First Beer of the Day") many years ago. At family gatherings he would say "I think its time for FBD" and I loved it.

One Saturday back in 2010ish I posted my FBD and it caught on.

It caused me to like craft beer. I would troll the early FBD threads with my budlight and make fun of all the beer queers. Then I figured I would drink some of their shitty beer so I could feel them how bad it was. Next thing I know I’m one step away from a pretzel necklace.

I've met so many great people IRL through the FBD threads. Early on my wife gave me shite about it, but she finally had to acknowledge that beer geeks are good people.

ETA: The Krewe of FBD really reached legit status with my wife when our daughter (sorry, no pics) had just moved to Jackson to go to Millsaps. She got sick with a sinus infection or something and my wife is telling me that she needed to come home to see our local ENT doctor. I told her that I would get her in to see an ENT in Jackson. I text Coater and he sees her that day. Thanks Coater.

And the precursor to that was the thread Boudreaux would start once a week or so....back when Abita was about the only Craft beer in Louisiana but national Craft beer Brewers were starting to distribute to Louisiana.

I misread the OP title too, come to think of it.

I thought he was asking what was the origin of the Food and Drink Board, which goes to mouton.

A great daily thread indeed. It’s THE reason I heard about and started using TD. I’ve met a few folks that post that are good friends now...and learned a ton about craft beer.

I remember that. It was a beer of the week thing. I don't think the poster was Boudreaux though. A similar name...

The rest of this story doesn't involve me so I will assume it is BS.

Coater and his smokin' wife are just Madison County yuppies with their Country Clubs and fancy vacations to Point Clear with the other yuppies.
