What's on Your Food Bucket List for 2020? UPDATES?

Pretty modest for me:
1) Chicago style pizza
2) Probably about a half-dozen BBQ joints in TX (Snows, Terry Blacks in Austin, Revielle, Daddy Duncan, Tejas)
3) Kartchners in Krotz Springs
ETA: Made it to Terry Black's in Austin. It was great. Exceeded expectations. Among the best ribs ever and jalapeno-cheese sausage was amazing.
Daddy Duncan's - huge disappointment. Made it to his food truck on a Sunday afternoon by a pet shop off I-10. Brisket and ribs seemed like leftovers. Nice guy. Hope he gets it turned around.
Kartchners: only got the smoked boudin and smoked sausage. In fact, I'd give a slight edge over Billy's on the boudin and the sausage threatened my all-time favorite (Rabideaux's). Here's the thought I had in my first visit, most of life's problems don't seem as bad when you enter a Cajun meat market.
Look forward to hearing how others are doing.

Worthy of being on the list. Unbelievable BBQ. Let me humbly recommend the jalapeno and cheddar sausage.
On my list is Pujol in Mexico City. Three Michelin Star, top 20 in the world. Will check that off at the end of March.
Traveling to India and South Africa but haven’t booked any restaurants yet, need to see what’s out there. But I have to say that authentic Indian food will be a great experience.

I'm curious about the viet cajun crawfish in Houston
Have you tried that yet?

Making a trip to at least one:
1.) Osteria Francescana
2.) Alinea
3.) French Laundry

Pujol sounds interesting. Everyone here likes Alinea because it’s so cool. You buy a ticket to get a seat then pay more on top of that. But Pujol will easily beat that. frick buying a ticket, you get to tell everyone how you had to purchase ransom insurance just to go eat dinner.

I’ve done 1 and 3. While FL is amazing, it’s absolutely nothing compared to Francescana. Alinea is definitely on my list but I won’t get there this year.

You do realize Mexico City is one of the largest cities in the world, and pretty modern? Per capita, you’re more likely to be the victim of a crime in New Orleans or Baton Rouge.
I don’t live my life in fear of traveling to new places. But if you do, that’s your choice.

I'd go to FL as part of a Cali wine trip. Francescana would be purely to go there, but only problem is, I highly doubt any of my friends would spend the money to go all the way to Italy.

Get better friends.
I’m kidding. I get that. We basically got our reservation and then planned a two week trip around a dinner reservation. I know how insane that is and sounds, but it was an amazing trip. I would move to Modena in a heartbeat if I could.

You were the first bite on the hook.

I usually am. But it was so shiny!

Mine are more to do rather than to eat:
Finally get good at large batch cracklings
Bake more with spelt, rye, buckwheat, etc
Make more fresh pasta

It's pretty much what you have to do if you plan on going there. I have a few friends that would definitely like to go, but I just know them and they aren't going to spend $5k on a trip. Out of the 3 I mentioned, Alinea is probably most realistic because one of the friends has family in Chicago. She goes a few times a year so I could plan on going around then and she already said it's on her list too.

I have not. Seems as though every place here is so damned expensive. I just get my crawfish fix when I go back to Lake Chuck.

What's this about?

Enoteca Pinchiorri when I'm in Florence in May.
ETA: Currently working on the wife and her parents to stop in Modena to hit up Osteria Francescana.
