I've done many, many times, and it's the most bland tuna on Earth. It takes 2-3 days for rigamortis to set in on a fish, and it's during this process that the meat develops it's flavor.

I don't like any kind of raw fish. I've tried various kind including fresh salmon up in Alaska and I just didn't like any of it.

It's hard to explain, but if you love fish in general, really fresh sushi is something you should enjoy.

ironically, i hate almost all cooked fish (with one or 2 exceptions), but i looooove raw sushi. i can eat raw salmon all day long, but wont go near a cooked salmon filet.

If you're skeptical, have a Saporro (Japanese beer) or two and some saki. By the time the sushi gets to the table, you'll be ready to throw down.

I did the same thing when I got into my first tuna

It was 1998 and her name was Bridget

I learned to appreciate raw fish working in Alaska. I worked with a group of Japanese workers who were at our outpost collecting salmon roe. They had access technique, We had whiskey which they had no access to (dry county cuz Eskimos can't handle liquor).

I always tell people sashimi is a better place to start than rolls, bc the seaweed in rolls tastes more "fishy" than the raw fish.

The raw fish is almost more of a textural thing than a taste thing. The soy & wasabi tastes more than the fish. That being said, the more exotic the better for me, at this point. I don't go on a tuna fishing trip without soy/wasabi.

Tuna nigiri is one of my absolute favorite dishes. It's pretty much they only thing I order when I go get sushi.

You can get sick that way. You need to deep freeze it first to kill bacteria.

Don't forget - you always eat sushi with your hand and you're supposed to turn it upside down to dip it in the soy sauce if at all

You turn nigiri upside down. Soy sauce goes on the fish, not the rice.

Turning a roll upside down would serve no purpose as they are usually the same on either side with rice surrounding it.
