I paid less than $500 for 4 people at commander's.
wife and I usually sit around $250-300, just depends on what wine we get. I know most of the retail prices so I refuse to pay absurd markups which keeps the tab down.

I don’t think I’ve ever paid a 2 person tab much over 300 bucks and we eat out a lot, especially when we travel. On vacation I really don’t care how much a place costs but goddamn I don’t think I could eat 250 dollars worth of food no matter how good it is

yeah it's usually the wine for everyone. we'll get 2-3 apps, a cocktail/glass of bubbly, bottle of wine, 1-2 entrees, then Montenegro/port and espresso for dessert. if I know a wine retails for $50 and they have it on the list for $100, I just laugh and find another one. every wine list has decently priced bottles and then ridiculously marked up bottles so you can find value there.

I'm not poor, but I am old, overspending on restaurant meals is just not that enjoyable. Big disclaimer though, there are occasions that deserve it, where you want to create a special memory for a special person.

I'll never bring myself to spend $350 on a dinner for two.
I'm not that into food either though. All I see there is $350 poo the next morning.

I got reservations at a 2 Michelin called Disfrutar in a couple of weeks. Will be my first Michelin experience. $180pp then extra for wine.
There were two 3 Michelin stars also in Barcelona but everyone said this one was a better deal and experience.
Most lavish I've had to date was Victoria and Albert's or August .

I just need to clarify. So in this scenario, you’re looking at the poop of both yourself and the other diner?

for me, anything 300 is a little lavish but we have spent 1000 before just the two of us that was really lavish.
