previously when it was built.

And what was Abe’s BBQ down the street first as well? I enjoyed Abe’s and hated to see it go.

Who bought that George’s or is the kid running it. I know Tony bought Highland.

Pretty sure George's was Prytania, and Abe's was called "The Hangar" and had a plane crashing into the roof

This is the correct answer. When I used to bartend at George's Southside the owner was a regular. He owned the theater that was there at the time as well. In fact, he owned that whole corner and developed it himself. Cant recall his name. He lost the restaurant to his wife in a divorce. She ran it into the ground. He still owned the building and he turned around and leased it to Smokey.

Prytania and those hamburgers were some of the best in town

I enjoy George's on George Oneal, but what a disgusting dump inside. That's how Smokey liked it - like a dark dive bar.
But if you really look around, its a dump - dusty, dark, and outdated.

It was something else before Prytania, I just can't recall the name. I remember when it first opened in the early-90s.

I remember the plane on the roof. Abe’s had good BBQ and had live music. Two women owned it. Pretty sure they whistled in the wheat since a lot of Indigo Girls music was played.

Clearly you are a Sopranos fan! Yes you are correct dont think they ever tried to hide it. I also remember the BBQ being decent. I think the place would probably kill it now.

I went to Prytania every week for lunch when it was open. Great lunch specials and as mentioned above good hamburgers.

I knew people who worked there, it would be packed but some Karen's in the neighborhood got the live music shut down. After that it got less and less busy.

One of my least favorite places to eat.
Food is okay, service slow, ambience horrible.
It has nothing I can not get else where that is much better.
