Yep. I have a 40" MES and I am pleased with it. So easy to use.

This is what your looking for. Academy will usually have them on sale for all the major holidays. Get the amps tray also...set it and forget it.

You still need electricity to run a pellet grill.
The fuel for electric smokers is the electricity through a heating element. The fuel for a pellet cooker is wood pellets. You can run out of pellets and the thing runs idle. With electric smokers you can use your own wood chunks and have a wider variety of woods. Nothing wrong with either as far as the food produced.
Propane smokers would be the most costly and you probably need a spare tank of propane on hand.

My man I have had all 3 and understand the inter-workings of each just fine.

My question is why in 2019 anyone would prefer electric over pellet, I still use the propane where power is unavailable or simply away from home but never would even consider using it over my pellet pooper if they are side by side.

I just do not see any advantage to electric smokers other than for apartment residents and a huge disadvantage as most do not get hot enough to grill/BBQ which a pellet pooper shines at, this is not even delving into taste which is tougher to nail down as it is an individual preference.

FYI not sure if you have shopped pellets but every wood and combo thereof is readily available.

Without getting into a pissing contest you asked the question. I answered as you didn't state you had or knew about them all. I have had electric, pellet(two) charcoal and lump charcoal smokers so I simply answered you.

FYI, not ALL wood pellets are made with the actual woods stated on the bag. For lack of a better term "flavors" are added or a percentage of the actual woods are used. Unless it says they are made with the actual hardwood like oak or hickory, they may just be made with additives.

It sucks and I try to order good pellets by the 40lb bag, had great luck with the cookin pellets, usually keep a few sacks in the shed.

I have an electric smoker and in fact I have too many grills and smokers and I'm reducing that number these days.
One that I'm eliminating from my herd is an electric. Nothing against it, I just prefer to use my Traeger or Broil King Keg. I recently sold a pretty unique Traeger Smokehouse that a guy in Texas bought. He wanted it so bad that he had a hot shot driver friend of his stop and pick it up to bring to him. I actually love all forms of grilling and smoking meats outdoors.

Not so much as I used to but at any given time I would have 300-400 pounds of Traeger pellets in my shed. I would get them at a discount price from a distributor in north Alabama whenever I'd visit a friend of mine.
A few weeks ago I used some grapevine wood pellets to smoke a couple of pork butts. Came out pretty good!

The thing I love about the electrics is they stay pretty much consistent temperature wise. And you can get the ral wood for smoking like fruit woods or hardwoods fairly easily.

I have a Smokin It 3 another Cookshack clone, which is the same style as your Cookshack clone Smokin Tex.

A good pellet grill is far better than these things. I've stopped using my chunk burner in it and went back to running an AMNPS with pellets because I got better results with my old MES with AMNPS than I did with the chunk tray. I have the pellet screen for it as well, but I prefer the AMNPS tube and letting it burn from air using a torch starter over the screen and the element. It's great at smoking cheese and other things without heat this way too.

Don't use a cheap pellet grill, get a good one and you will see the difference. I prefer a good pellet over ceramics, offset is still preferred, but a pain in the arse.

You are right about pellets though, but you can buy hardwood and fruit wood options online now. No excuse not to run good pellets in them.

I’m very interested in vertical drum smokers. I would love to pick up a PBC, Gateway, or OK Joe Bronco one day.

I'm a yoder honk. Worth every penny. Gives me the versatility to direct grill on high heat, indirect grill and do long smokes. Built to last and consistent as hell.

Yeah, unless I get a deal to be too god to pass up Yoder YS640 is on my list. Until then I'll keep using my old U.S. made Traeger Executive 125 for pellet cooking.

This is that older Traeger Smokehouse. The guy stripped it to bare metal and repainted it.

I think the Rec Tec Bull 700 is the way to go. It has digital temperature settings which can be controlled via your phone with built in WiFi. The smoker is very well made with features the Traegers just don’t have.

It's explained on the PCB website and smoking forums the bottom of the ribs near the coals don't get burned because it's kept cool by the melting fat dripping down from the rib rack. Side by side comparisons for taste and texture between the WSM and PBC on Youtube videos give a slight edge to the PBC for taste...but I think either would be a good purchase.

You may have been saying this but the heat source for the GMG grills is the combustion of the pellets, so if you run out the temp also drops way off (in addition to a really annoying tone).

So do pellet grills though. Not to mention being able to forget about it overnight for 8 hours or so with the auto feed.

saw the pit barrel and yes the reviews are great. I don’t understand how hanging the meat on hooks right above the fire with no barrier doesn’t cook the meat too quickly though.

You will not be disappointed

I use mine for over 75% of what I used to use an oven for if the weather is even half decent, turns out great food and no heat or smells in the house.

Plus a few glasses of whiskey and a cigar are much better enjoyed outside than in the kitchen or so my wife says

No, just did not see the need for it as I dont transport the thing or really move it much at all, decked out it is a pretty heavy rig

I would suggest the grill grates, plate with the door/hatch for direct grilling/searing and the blanket though.

The blanket wrap really reduces pellet consumption and makes the temp rock steady esp on cold days.

Yoder is one of the best companies I have ever dealt with when it comes to customer service, I sent them a blind email and asked a few questions before purchasing online months later and the guy I communicated with noticed my name and sent me emails thanking me for the purchase and tossed in half a dozen bags of pellets, an extra can of touch up paint if ever needed, a dozen assorted seasonings and a utensil set on an unsolicited basis after the order was placed, it was 2016 though and they were not moving out as fast as they are now so

A few weeks later I got an email asking how I was liking it and if I wanted any specific recipes from their company "chef" Tom, dude has some bad arse videos out there.

His contact info from his email sig is below, been a few years but he likely is still there.

FYI you may or may not know this but ATBBQ.com is owned by Yoder and they are the only online vendor I know of.
