So I asked Mrs Jibba to be on the lookout for the Red Boat salt because I want to try to Faux Age some steaks. She ended up getting some for my birthday off amazon and in the process, saw the truffle salt and thought I might be able to use that too. Not too bad of a haul.

I know I want to use the Red Boat for steaks, but does anybody have any other uses for it? How about the truffle salt? I fried some eggs and I must say, the truffle salt is pretty amazing with them.

Any other recommendations from the veterans of the f&d board?

Faux Age

How... Please elaborate. I love aged beef and if I can fake it inside mine own home then all the better

I have about a half dozen flavored salts and can only tell a flavor if I put them on something really bland and use no other seasonings.

I don't cook that way. I like fresh herbs and other flavors.

Homemade garlic salt is about the only exception.

I guarantee that you would taste the fish salt. It smells of death just like fish sauce. The truffle salt really stood out on fried eggs with Muenster cheese on an English muffin. Very noticeable, even with heavy cracked pepper.

This is all the rage in some SV circles

Full disclosure, I have not tried it yet. I will try it soon and report back here with pics.

Truffle salt very good on popcorn, french fries, etc...
