The replys for Dorothy's, Zeeland, Stockyard, Beleau's are probably the best in Baton Rouge. But Meat & 3 or Plate Lunches (they are the same) are the providence of smaller towns. Go to Plquemeine, Addis, Port Allen and any other small town around industry/plants and you will find restaurant/cafe's serving these.
Edit: shouldn't limit it to industry either, I've had similar lunches in small towns of south central Louisiana too.

the best bbq places are Blue Oak and Central city
Don't include Central City with Blue Oak. What has happened at Central City is a fricking embarrassment and unless these weekend festivals work out they will be shutdown shortly. Or at least a major revamp.

There's a couple of places in the NO CBD that sort of fit the bill for this. Commerce Restaurant and P&G come to mind.
And Catty Corner.

Best I’ve had are at a little place called L&M off the River Road in St. James.

Country's Cafe in Plaquemine was one of my favorites, but they've been closed at least 20 years. Last year I went to place similar to Dorothy's in Lafayette. Forget the name, but it was on the east side of downtown. There was a good place on the river road around Taft, too.
