you didnt realize fried chicken and fried pork chops go well with red beans?
Posted on 10/6/11 at 10:30 am to yellowfin
i do mayo and vinegar coleslaw, and hot water cornbread with my red or white beans... both have tons of pork in them already.

Popeyes has been making money off that combination for decades now.

I agree with fried pork chops and cornbread but I prefer mustard greens as the green. Also candied yams (old school butter and real sugar) are good also.

Pickled okra. It's like having a kosher dill spear with your hamburger.

Yea, but Popeye's beans don't have sausage or pork in the them. Most people's are full of meat and can stand alone..

Agree on the meat. Red beans are filling. I can't eat much with them other than cornbread and maybe a salad or some greens.

According to them, they do.
quote:
RED BEANS SAUCE: WATER, PORK FAT [CURED WITH WATER, SALT, NATURAL SMOKE
FLAVORS (PARTIALLY HYDROGENATED SOYBEAN OIL AND NATURAL WOOD SMOKE FLAVORS),
SODIUM PHOSPHATE, SUGAR, BROWN SUGAR, SODIUM NITRITE], RED KIDNEY BEANS, RED
BEAN SEASONING MIX (DRIED ONIONS, SALT, SPICES INCLUDING PAPRIKA AND PARSLEY,
DRIED GARLIC, AND MONOSODIUM GLUTAMATE]. MAY CONTAIN MODIFIED FOOD STARCH.
CONTAINS: SOYBEAN OIL, MSG
Anyway its not about standing alone, its just about having more food to feed more people. I mean I rarely eat anything else with red beans and rice.

A nice little broccoli pie

Side note: do not get red beans from BB's in Houston. Low expectations were exceeded.
Softshell crab was good though, although it was about 95% leg and 5% body.
