After years of cellaring stuff, I decided about 6 months ago that I was just holding onto bottles for no real reason. Through bottle shares and drinking some of them my own, I've gotten rid of my wine cellar and really only have a couple of Parish Grand Reserve barleywines left. I don't enjoy big, high ABV beers the way I used to, and when I do have some, it's generally just a small 2-4oz pour.

I need to drink down my cellar. Who wants to come help?

I have some good stuff. Local and not-so-local. I really need to start drinking some of the BA stuff.

Do not want. Those barrels. Nope.

I'm not holding a lot. I burned through most of my good stuff before I moved. I have two 2015 BCBS "Rares," plus a couple of Hill Farmstead funky ones sitting around. Nothing that's particularly whalez-y. Probably sit on the Geese for another 2.5 years, I've yet to be overly impressed when I've had it at a share, the Hills will pop imminently. It's beer. It's made to drink.

You probably already know this, so I hate to be a buzzkill, but there's a good chance that 2015 Bourbon County is infected. Every one of the barley wine and regular bottles that I got were infected. I still have both variants going back to 2013 but this ruined my vertical.

We're moving soon so I've been going through a lot of mine over the last six months. Off the top of my head-
2014 Duclaw Retribution, 2015 & 2016 Woot Stout, Bruery Poterie, Bruery Cuivre, 2014 Yeti, 2014 Avery The Beast, 2007 & 2011 J Lees Harvest Ale, 2014 Bells Expedition Stout, 2013-2105 Backwoods Bastard, 2014-2015 North Coast Old Stock Ale.

My old house had a basement so I got a little out of hand in '14-'15 with the beer collecting. I really haven't bought anything with the intent of aging in over a year but the Bell's Expedition Stout is one that I'm going to start stashing away each year. I was really impressed with it after a few years and it's pretty readily available.

Anytime.... you still going to Zwanze and Nola on Tap?

We made our plans, hitting Avenue at 9 drinking sours till 11:30 then taking an Uber to City Park and coming back around 3ish.

Tough call. I have a stupid amount of bottles and cans stashed in multiple cellars and closets. I'll be on a buying freeze and trying to drink most of them this fall and winter. It's hard to get down with big stouts and barleywines in the summer.

I have a 13-16 BCBS going... although the 15's are probably no good.
I have a Black Tuesday and a grey Monday. A cantillon classic...a few other 3-4 year old barrel aged stouts and barley wines. I think a 12-15 pumpkinator. I really need to get rid of most of them. I still enjoy those big beers but I'm rarely in the mood to kill one by myself. Next bottle share I'll bring a bunch of stuff I suppose. None are really whales but some good beers... maybe the LP chapter of the FBD krewe will have to come to my place soon.. once it's cooler

Think that is how I developed most "cellar" especially stouts. Too big to drink alone and too hot in South Louisiana.

Not that it's any of my business, but you probably won't actually drink Zwanze that way. She staggers when she starts pouring the loons, and Zwanze typically isn't poured until around 1 or 2. And it's pretty much gone as soon as it's poured.

Or at least that's how it's been done in the past.

I know, they are pouring that at 2 and I will be at Nola on Tap. However, they will have a ton of other sours not available in Louisiana to try. Plus they usually open up something unique once the Zwanze beer blows as well.

Alright dude. Just didn't want you to be disappointed. I'm sure you'll have fun regardless of what you decide to do.

Yeah, I looked at the schedule from last year and e-mailed Avenue. They are pouring the Zwanze at 2 but you have to purchase your tickets at 9 and cannot leave. I was going to purchase my tickets, buy the early pass for Nola on Tap and then go back for two until they replied back. Now just going to go and try a few things I may not have had or haven't had in awhile and then come back for whatever "whale" they may be having that evening.
