Cuban takeout: Miami sandwiches (turkey/ham/bacon, Swiss, lettuce/tomatoes/mayo on Cuban bread), picadillo empanadas, yellow rice, fried yuca, and plantain chips

And cafe cubano a few hours before bed because I can’t resist it

Shrimp & grits. Roasted asparagus.

I added gruyere to the grits and mushrooms to the shrimp gravy. It was delicious.

Today was my Dad’s birthday. He requested homemade fried chicken. I also smothered some cabbage, with a pan of cornbread, made some “French onion soup mix “ roasted potatoes, and velveeta Mac and cheese because that’s what my kids like. . Also bought one of those Boar’s Head charcuterie kits from Kroger and added a pepper jelly and a blackberry jam to it, along with grapes, strawberries, and olives. We had way too much food, but everyone seemed to enjoy it.
