Heard it’s gonna dip into the forties tonight. Threw a pork loin on the pit. Made a little gumbo, some slaw, mashed potatoes, gravy and peas. Sister Schubert made the rolls. Fed the family and two bartenders. Should’ve taken more or better pictures but I got busy. :)

Andouille, scallops and shrimp - trinity, spicy rotel, cumin, broth, wine, seasoning with butter and cream cheese. It was delicious.

Definitely one of the better looking gumbos that I’ve seen posted here recently.

Lil Green salad. Had a late lunch of Duck and Andouille Gumbo with fried fish and frog legs.

I stop at a little neighborhood bar, most days, to have a drink with a few of my friends. Mostly college kids working there and they don’t always have an opportunity to get a home cooked meal. On Sundays, I usually cook for an extended family and I always try to bring the bartender, that’s working, a plate too. Been doing it for years. They seem to appreciate it.

I was that bartender at one time in my life. I packed up a Tupperware of chili I made tonight for that regular that used to frequent my old bar. He ‘s 73 and just had a knee replacement and his wife is a terrible cook. He very much appreciates my leftovers for him these days as I did his over the years.
