Been years since the last time I went. Kind of small but it’s Baton Rouge so not fair to really compare it to the other cities.
Bought some really nice goat cheese spread. One with fig preserves and one with jalapeños. Fresh eggs from a company in Gonzales. Some nice pioppino mushrooms and fairytale eggplants to go with dinner tonight. Even snagged a small pack of lamb chops.
Might consider doing the bulk of my meat and dairy buying here. Was totally pleasant and the prices really aren’t that bad compared to large stores.
Anyway...shop and support local.

I haven’t been in about a month, but the market has been affected by the pandemic— like everything else. Some of the regular participants aren’t showing up. I’d say there were about half as many vendors as normal.

I was there this morning. Definitely a lot less vendors than normal.

Damn. That sucks to hear. I go about once a month. I’ve been during Covid but it was okay those times. Sad to hear it isn’t doing so well right now.

There’s not a lot being harvested right now so there’s slim pickings as far as produce goes.

Prairieville now has a farmers market, and from what I’ve seen, it’s decent size (10+ venders). Search “hwy 621 farmers market” on Facebook. They also have food trucks there, one is there everyday at lunch
