I think it works. And it's probably very similar to the names of all the other successful restaurants that they modeled theirs after.

But waiting until you've been open a while is a very backwards marketing plan in most industries They are still at a point where they can remedy that, but they are the ones trying to be "hip". They aren't Gino's. They didn't open in 1966 like Gino's did. They are aiming to appeal to the people who use the internet for pretty much everything. You can't be a new restaurant who is trying to be trendy and avoid the internet.
Particularly true if the restaurant has visibility issues.

In the long run, not marketing will get you where Spice ended up (which was a trendy restaurant who supposedly had great food, but failed to use any media)

Lack of marketing is not what killed spice. The name, location, owner, can say owner again he is a crook, demographic they were catering to and a few other things. Place was taken over to be a spot for this guy and his black buddy's to hang out, smoke cigars eat etc. Place should be torn down it will forever be jinxed.

I said it in the other thread and I'll say it again. Unless theyes put up a large sign that you can see from Perkins road, they will fail like every other place in that area. The only exception is Thai Kitchen which has a loyal customer base.

They have been open less than a week. I think their plan is to get operational, work out the kinks before they market. Initial SM reviews can kill a place. Why open yourselves up to all the negativity?

I agree with this.

I ate there Saturday night and really enjoyed it. I thought the salads were excellent, especially the arugula salad, it had this smokey bacon dressing that was incredible. Our entrees were the pork shoulder and hamburger and they were quite good, but the cheese on the burger had a spice level that was a little overboard imho.

Also had a side of greens which I enjoyed as well.

We also bumped into the owner of the brand management firm that I use for my practice. I asked her if Table was one of her clients. She said hell no, she doesn't do restaurants anymore since it is always a Chinese fire drill to manage their negatives, especially when they open, lifes too short.

We really enjoyed the food and atmosphere, but when we arrived without reservations (6pm on Saturday) the hostess handled it a bit awkwardly, but it didn't rustle our jimmies. Those two pretty boy suits in the FOH need to spend a little more effort training their eye candy than they do moussing up their hair.

One week in, I think they did really well and we will certainly be back soon.

How and why would they expect people to make reservations?
They just put their phone number online on Thursday.
Their website says nothing about reservations.

And they just put this up on their facebook site 3 hrs ago:
"We are now officially taking reservations."

ETA: Whoever got them to put up their phone number last Thursday, you should also encourage them to add their days and hours of operations. Reservation info. Forms of accepted payments (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, etc.) would be nice.

Don't really know why you are jumping on my case

I went back and read my posts. I don't see where I was jumping on anyone's case. The constant nit-picking on every little thing about a week-old restaurant's marketing is just that--nit-picky. Shouldn't it be about the food and service at this point?

And we wonder why even good restaurants fail. Who cares if pictures of the restaurant aren't up on a website? Go see the place for yourself and judge in person. Some of the best meals I eat are at places lots of people would be scared to walk into.

Fine. I'll leave your marketing after being open post alone The charcuterie board was sad But I do have high hopes for the rest of the food because it all sounded and looked really good.

Service wasn't an issue. Our favorite ZeeZee's bartender waited on us. Atmosphere was great. Not sure what the reservation deal was about, but it wasn't a big deal because I wanted to sit at the bar anyway.

So me and the wife went here Saturday on a date.

I like the atmosphere, though it is a bit on the loud side. I found the decorations in the place pretty neat.

For starters we had the fried green tomatoes with shrimp stuffing. They were good. Nothing dynamite but not bad.

I ordered the Pork Shoulder. Bad mistake
First off, i should have known better and that is on me, but the pork shoulder was bbq pulled pork. I think i was hoping for some sort of different prep for it, a la Cochon Butcher, but it was pretty bad. The pork was dry and the bbq sauce on it was too vinegary.
IT came with mac and cheese and greens. The mac and cheese was pretty good.
I love greens, and at first bite i was very pleased with them. But, halfway through i started to lose taste on my tongue. Way too much salt on those greens.

The wife ordered some sort of grilled lamb pasta. It was ok, but nothing dynamite.

Overall, the food wasn't very good. I think my expectations were way too high. I may go back again, hoping maybe i just ordered the bad thing on the menu, but if what i got is any indication to the rest of the menu, i'll not be returning.

The chicken wings are the best thing they serve from their menu and that isn't a knock against them. They're that good.
