could be right. i haven't looked it up. sodium content is probably for sure higher in the fast food option though.
Well considering most restaurants (not even just FF) cook their food on a flat top with butter (or where butter and burgers have been leaking fat all day), the caloric numbers are generally higher there than at your own house cooked in a washed pan.
I don't mind a FF breakfast from time to time, but honestly I don't even eat breakfast.
I am completely shocked people are defending with all their heart fast food when it's pretty well known nationwide that fast food is crap...
I think people just look at the way you say things and decide to argue against them even if they might normally agree.

You are the one making the claim that your "natural" foods are healthier. So yes, the onus is obviously on you.

Are people still defending shitty fast food in here? Wow
Next thing you know they're gonna be saying soft drinks are better for you than water

Wait..
Are people really arguing that processed cheese and imitation butter-covered foods are just for you as good as cheddar and real ingredients?
Just Google it if you really need some deep explanation on something that I'm pretty sure has been well-known for at least a few decades now...?

As someone that actually is a scientist, this argument is not nearly as clear cut as you think.
That being said, do I generally prefer cheddar to whatever cheese is at McDonald's? Yes.
His point is that a sausage biscuit at home is far healthier than a sausage biscuit at a FF joint, and that is highly debatable.

oh okay, so not liking fast food makes someone a foodie. got it. thanks for clarifying.
i don't think your comments stop solely at "not eating fast food," and your comments that i'm referring to occur outside of this particular discussion

the onus is on you for your choices, regardless of what they are
organic foods are not founds to be healthier or tastier...and this is over many studies. most of the time when these results are posted, the authors are attacked as being part of some "big food/monsanto" conspiracy
it's JUST like the alternative medicine folks who truly believe that medical doctors are part of a conspiracy of "big pharma" or something
it's a rejection of science. i don't get it. especially since the groups who tend to be foodies are often progressives who LOVE to bring up science in other areas

"pretty well known" based on....what?
the vast success of fast food, over all sorts of areas of this country, show that it's not nearly as well known as you believe

not everyone sleeps until 3pm. some people get up early, on the run, and have to eat something in a pinch in the morning.
im not sure what y'alls definition is of "defending". or what you think people are defending. I dont think anyone is saying it is healthy. Does it taste good? sure.
for the most part it is 2 pieces of bread/biscuit/muffin and a piece of meat. We're not talking about splitting atoms here.

Homemade sausage biscuits have culture.

do you have any proof otherwise?
i see lots of references to "common sense" but no real, hard studies

Certainly there are fewer variables when home cooking as opposed to eating at a FF restaurant. I know I wash my hands, I care about what I am eating. The guy making $7.25 couldn't give 2 shites.

a pork sausage biscuit with eggs isn't healthy by many standards, regardless of how it's prepared
same with a beef hamburger on a white bun (of any kind) with ketchup and cheese.

If i had an hour to make a sausage biscuit from scratch in the morning, i would.

I don't know if it's FAR healthier because I hate sausage and don't care to find out (plus I'm only eating 1200 or less calories per day and that's one of those sandwiches alone probably), but as I said, these places are using cooking methods that we wouldn't use at home. I'm not slathering my biscuits in melted butter at home. I'm not cooking my sausage on a butter-laden grill. ONE tablespoon of butter is 100 calories.
And I'm probably paying more attention to my meat product (I don't imagine I'd be buying Jimmy Dean or whatever if I liked sausage).
I don't know the numbers, so maybe it is magically the same caloric intake. But I do doubt it.
FWIW, I grab Chicken Minis from Chick Fil A from time to time (well, not anymore but I did before I decided to starve myself). And they're pretty good. I don't hate ALLLL fast food. I just prefer not to eat it when I have the money/time not to.. and I certainly won't defend it with some passion these people seem to have found.
Posted on 4/11/13 at 3:00 pm to Lester Earl
i'd hope you'd make more than one if you spent all that time on it

Right, but now you are not comparing apples to apples. A grilled chicken salad at home is likely healthier for me than a Big Mac. Who knew?

I'm the same way.

I don't think people are defending FF as much as they are pointing out how big of an ignorant a-hole R2R really is.
