I don't know the numbers, so maybe it is magically the same caloric intake. But I do doubt it.

a sausage biscuit from McD is 430 calories. About 1/3 of what you assumed it was

"pretty well known" based on....what?

the vast success of fast food, over all sorts of areas of this country, show that it's not nearly as well known as you believe

The success of fast food means it's healthy/not crap now? What on earth does the number of people who visit McDonalds say about it's quality of ingredients? Nothing at all..

Just like the science isn't there to support the theory that diet drinks cause weight gain but everybody and their sister keeps saying it like it is absolute fact.

I don't sleep until 3PM either..

And I've stated several times that I grab fast food from time to time because I wake up 15 minutes before I should be clocked in at work.

But I'm not understanding how people are arguing that the nutritional value of a fast food meal is the same as a homecooked meal..

Hell, even a nice restaurant's food is often more than the same dish would be at home.

I dont think anyone is saying it is healthy.

Slow said that the calories in a sausage mcmuffin is the same as cooking pork sausage at home with a better cheese.

the onus is on you for your choices, regardless of what they are

So someone can attack me for anything i say and it's on me to defend myself even in the face of a baseless attack? For instance: if I say The Godfather is a great movie and some comes along and says it's the worst film of all time then I should be the one who has to prove why it's good while the other person can simply say that's it's terrible but not have to accept a burden of proof?

quote:

organic foods are not founds to be healthier or tastier...and this is over many studies. most of the time when these results are posted, the authors are attacked as being part of some "big food/monsanto" conspiracy

I rarely buy anything organic, nor do I go around this board or in any other electronic or IRL forum stating that organic is inherently better than non-organic. I had read articles about how manipulated and misleading products labeled "organic" are; how they allow more and more things to fall under that umbrella every time the board gets together. it's a good idea in theory, but not in practice.

OK, but are we really talking about microbes or illness here? I think not.

well healthy? can't say

not crap? obviously to millions of people it's not crap. how else would it be a success?

quote:

What on earth does the number of people who visit McDonalds say about it's quality of ingredients? Nothing at all..

it shows that they're successful businesses and the people like the quality of ingredients, taste, and price point

how is it "pretty well known" that fast food is crap when it's so goddamn popular? seems that it's a very small portion of the population who shits on fast food, which is the opposite of being "pretty well known."

some of it is, some of it isnt.

you're gonna be splitting hairs.

i think you are getting "tastes better"(home cooked) and "is healthier" confused.

most fast food is junk. If you are cooking the same thing at home, it is still junk.

because i haven't seen any evidence that states fast food is worse. all i see is "common sense"

i said the caloric content probably wouldn't be that different. i agree the salt content may be. even R2R didn't' really argue with me

you're dealing with so many carbs, protein, lipids, etc. it's mainly the carbs that get you

slow you're a smart guy .. you're honestly trying to use this argument to prove a point? might as well say that Justin Bieber must make great music because so many people like him.

his onus is to prove it's the worst film ever, as it's his choice to claim that

expanded to its logical end, this applies to "chemicals" also. at the heart of the organic movement, it's a desire to distance themselves from "chemicals" as well

it's a matter of scale

justin bieber makes really good bubble gum pop music. bubble gum pop music is the youth music of right now

pretty much whatever is the popular youth pop music of the day will dominate record sales

it's almost always shite. most "classics" that survived the test of time were dominated in the charts by whatever was the youth music hit of that week/month.
